Re: MATCHWATCH : Cardiff City (h)

Sutekh Barring injury to any of those starting, I'm struggling to see any substitutions being made based on recent experience.

+ 1

Seems a pointless bench based on Ince's stated reluctance to bring on young men as subs....???

Hope it doesn't back fire

Re: Some football buses cancelled during August

So the idea being that you get your normal bus service to the station and then get the F1 to the ground. So if there is a shortage of bus drivers to do the normal football buses, the number of F1 service buses will presumably not be increased to accommodate all these new travellers. Expect massive ...

"As many of you will have seen in the news over the last year, there is a nationwide shortage of bus drivers" Can't quite bring themselves to say it, can they?... :D That the Reading injury curse stretches as far as football bus drivers? That is more mysterious than imposing economic sanc...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Blackpool (a)

Was listening on BBCRB hoping for a different story this season... But just from listening, there is a strong sense of deja vu - set up to invite pressure, go a goal down within 15-20 mins, then start to play once there is a deficit to make up. Never make up the deficit or maybe spawn a draw.... I'd...

Re: Confrimed - Nesta Guinness-Walker

I know you are only joking about Fran Kirby, but she is EXACTLY the type of player we are currently lacking. Would be great if we actually put in a bid for her and challenged the segregation in football..... ‘Kirby’s coming home.......’ If they don't go with the challenging the segregation idea, sl...

Re: Reasons to be hopeful?

from the little I have seen in pre-season, we will need all on-field players to be on it - if too many are below par, we will struggle - we don't have a player who can conjure something out of nothing like we have done (Olise, Swift...) - unless Ejaria plays in more attacking positions Against bette...

Re: Next seasons kit choice?

Yeah agree I don’t like the kit tbh. The clash of styles is jarring But to go with it knowing it would be ‘divisive’ at best is pretty gutsy. And of course raising climate change awareness is far more impt than having a dodgy kit for a year Fair play to them for that + 1 actually think it will grow...

Re: Out of Contract 2022

Understand Rinos contract demands were completely unrealistic. Asked for parity with Puscas which we simply couldn’t do. Bearing in mind how much the club did when he was out with the ankle injury, I think we deserved more So asking for a package outside the EFL business plan parameters..? Ie basic...

Re: Out of Contract 2022

One consideration to bear in mind is the WC at the end of the year. If an international player from a second tier nation is blocked in their club side, a loan to a championship club with guaranteed first team competitive football might be an attractive option. I reckon a few teams with tight finance...

Re: Out of Contract 2022

Nobody really knows. Given the situation last season and the position we ended up in, a refreshed squad was always on the cards. The alchemy of why team perform or not isn't predictable and the 'better players' hardly covered themselves in glory during the 200% wages/revenue years. We just need to s...

Re: Out of Contract 2022

Ambivalent about Rino.
Looked very good at the start of his stint in the first team, but then seemed to reach a plateau.

Hope we can find a decent holding midfielder somewhere to come in.

Re: Out of Contract 2022

Laurent came on a free, did well the first season, but started to believe the hype and, IMO underperformed significantly last season.
The finances means he's gotten a better offer.

Good luck to him.

A modern Danny Bailey.

Fingers crossed recruitment gives us something to work with.

Re: RFC 2020/21 accounts

Given average wage is around £15k a week in these accounts, a sustainable model isn't conducive with higher end championship players.

So, if we survive, the squad will be of much lower quality in the next few years.

Gambling is the only option, unless new revenue streams can be found.

Hang on, I've got an idea!

We could sign a load of good but low cost players from eastern EU countries....

Oh.... :D

Re: Points Deduction Incoming!

Yep recruitment needs to be smart, we also don't appear to be constrained to 1 year deals next season as we are this. Can someone check my maths a bit here too: If next years wage budget is 16m - if all 25 players are paid the same that would be an annual salary per player of 640,000GBP. That equat...

Re: Points Deduction Incoming!

Not quite sure of the veracity of the information but read an article recently which had details of premier players on less than £10k per week. Some staggeringly low figures e.g. Pukki £8k Curtis Jones £4K Both Longstaffs at Newcastle are on less than a grand a week  So, there may be decent ...
