Shame but sounds like we were excellent first 40 mins

Have to take the confidence from that into this week. Obviously huge games - couple of wins and we’ll be well clear

Millsy Dipping in and out, can’t watch it. I see we’re being destroyed 4-1 but oddly all stats in our favour. More possession more shots more on target more corners. What’s been going on?

Elsewhere in League 1

Bolton 3-3 Charlton
Carlisle 0-4 Cambridge
Cheltenham 3-2 Port Vale
Derby 1-0 Stevenage
Fleetwood 1-2 Barnsley
Leyton Orient 1-2 Burton Albion
Lincoln 1-0 Exeter
Northampton 3-1 Bristol Rovers
Peterborough 1-2 Blackpool
Shrewsbury 0-1 Wigan
Wycombe 0-0 Oxford

Reading drop to 18th place, 3 points clear of the relegation places and 3 points behind 17th. A win v Vale will put them back up to 16th.

Their keeper made saves while Button couldn't catch a cold today.

We didn't take our chances, and we let Pompey cut us open and score four soft goals.

Could easily have had four ourselves between Mukairu shooting over from close, Wing hitting the underside of the bar and bouncing out, Smith tipping past an onrushing keeper only for an outstretched arm to save and then Savage passing in the net. Smith could have put Ehibhatiomhan 1 v 1 too.

Officials were poor... Pompey got an awful lot given to them. And they were never going to stay as poor as they were the first 30 minutes.

Play like that against Port Vale and we should win comfortably. Will we play like that though.

Terrible day from Button, but I don't think he's been as bad this season as some like to say. Provided some big moments in games we won. When a keeper has a horror show, you have to give them a chance to respond so I expect he will start on Tuesday.

Really have had a load of dodgy keepers coming to the club since, probably, Mannone was here (and he wasn't the greatest). But since the idiot ownership has caused the club not to be able to trade properly what can you expect, either what we have or a load of youngsters still finding their way.

Jokull Andresson and Luke Southwood both have higher Whoscored ratings in League One than Button. Justsayin.

Weren't we close to getting Nathan Baxter on a free but the embargo stopped us? One of the best keepers in the division. Cheers Dai

Yes indeed

Don’t think Button has been bad overall, actually think he’s been pretty good. Poor day today though

If you`re going to the league leaders your keeper needs to be on top of his game, he wasn`t, appeared to be a half decent performance and 4-1 probably flattered the home side.

I was there. Can’t believe we lost 4-1. First half Reading were by far the better side. Portsmouth first time into our half and they score. The most underserved 1-0 lead ever. Button should’ve saved it though. Ref was dreadful. Reading weren’t great for first 20 mins of the second but quite how we were 4-0 down is beyond comprehension. Portsmouth were poor but scored with every shot they had. We should’ve had 2 goals near the end. How wings free kick didn’t go in I don’t know but when your luck out then that’s what happens. Reading deserved at least a point.

Buttons worst game in a Reading shirt. I think he was at fault for the first and 4th goals

Agreed, body of work has been decent, every keeper has a shocker occasionally and that was him today.

Button's odd. He doesn't really make the kind of howlers that give you nightmares, but just has a lot of "he could probably have done better there" moments.

Exactly, he’s very average, but doesn’t make any outstanding saves, ever.

It's what we said every week earlier in the season. We have to react well on Tuesday; performances are meaningless without results.

2-0 up against Wigan, Abbey gives the ball away and Button makes a very good stop to avoid an awkward finish. Didn't he have a couple of moments against Charlton too?
