Stranded Liverpool with 35 yo Jay Spearing on the bench.

He played at Reading recently and got sent off for deliberate handball.

F-T Spurs 3 Liverpool 3 - gone into extra time.
After ET 3-3 gone to pens.
Spurs win 5-4 on Pens and play Chelsea at home in the Semi- if we beat Sunderland or West Ham at least the away final will be in London not Liverpool !!

Tottenham through on penalties. If we reach the final, it'll mean a trip to London (if I've understood the format correctly).

Seen a few articles blowing smoke up Spurs' arse because their U21s topped the league.

I know I'm biased but surely the real story is the cash strapped League 1 team who are now in the semis and are offering a genuine path to 1st team football.

From an outside perspective on Spurs, they seem to be beatable; I think our U21s have a good chance of beating them if we were to play them. We drew 2-2 away against them in the league stage and conceded three goals in each of their play-off games so far - Villa came sixteenth and Liverpool came eighth in the final standings.

I don't fear anyone with the side we've got. I'm very happy to go under the radar, especially if it helps us go on to win these play-offs.

Doesn't fit the narrative of being a big club that everyone's meant to love.

We've won stuff more recently than Spurs haven’t we?

Probably makes us favourites to make the final.

Which is frankly crazy.

Incredible given Elliot, Savage, Ehibhatiomhan, Bindon, and Craig are all young enough to be in the U21 squad on age.

Entirely mad end to a mad season.

You can add Dorsett to that list as well along with Vickers and Abbey from earlier in the season.

Return to Reading for Grahame Murty Sunderland U 21 manager. We beat them 2-1 at Bearwood earlier this season.

And Harris.

So what you're saying is that this is effectively our B team.

For me the standouts have been Carson, Borgnis, and Wellens. CBC has looked very good with the ball at his feet but hasn't been tested much on the core goalkeeping stuff.

Generally speaking I don't think this side stacks up well compared to past teams - thinking of the Pearce-Karacan side, the Kuhl-Kelly side, and the Richards-Osho side. But all of those produced multiple Premier League players and even more Championship players (and an Iceland international), so it's a high bar.

Hopefully it gets played when there is no PL games and there is a live feed on YouTube/Royals TV so more people can watch.

Apologies if this has been mentioned before but who would host the final were we to progress?

I believe we'll be away at the winners of the other semi (Tottenham or Chelsea).

Correct. Interesting that Spurs are playing the game at their first team stadium - could suggest a day out there or at Stamford Bridge if they can get past Sunderland.
