Andre Bikey

by A1ndy » 19 Apr 2007 08:42

Good news on the back of the Evening Post today with Bikey signing a three year contract.

Might be an indication that Sonko wont be ready for next season.

Personally, i think he isnt good enough but would like nothing more than to be proved wrong.
People say he could be another Sonko but I think his positioning is poor, he lacks pace and is poor on the ball.

He is on level par with pace with Sonko. I personally think he looks quite calm on the ball. He doesnt mess about with it, when under pressure. He has shown me enough promise to suggest he can be as good a player Sonko has turned out to be. I hope he proves you wrong!

Bikey has the size and skill to be a great central defender. He has already started to look quite good actually, compared to when he first joined. At worst he will be quality cover for Sonko/Ingi. Excellent news.

My thinking also, he also seems to have an excellent ability to place a very long ball across the length of the pitch. An excellent ability to have for those quick breaks when we have Convey back.

Undisclosed fee would be my guess. Reading do that as much as possible it seems. Probably around the 1.5million mark though.

It says 1.2 million on the back of the evening post.

SO this hasn't actually happened then, seeing as we can't sign anyone until June?

It depends - the player is on loan so I'm guessing he could sign a permanent contract now that comes into effect in the summer.

Three-year deal for Bikey
Reading will tie up a permanent deal for Lokomotiv Moscow loan star Andre Bikey by the end of the week.

Royals manager Steve Coppell has decided for certain that he would like to take up the option of signing the Cameroon international and is set to land him on a three-year deal worth £1.2million.

Although the transfer window is now closed, Reading can sign the player now under the initial terms of the loan agreement.

Reading’s director of football Nicky Hammond, who is abroad on a scouting mission, told the Evening Post: “We are looking at the option of getting Andre permanently and we’re trying to move discussions forward with Lokomotiv and complete a deal by the end of this week. I don’t see any problems.â€

Bikey is a better passer of the ball than Sonko imho. An excellent signing.

Dominance in the air apart, I feel Bikey will be better than Sonko in every other department given a year or two to improve.

A great signing at a good price. And not only at CB. I feel the the holding role in Midfield would be his ideal position.

To be young and raw as he is, but to play well in the Premiership having never played in an English league previously speaks volumes of Bikey's ability.

Yep - his only downside is that he sometimes loses concentration very easily, but that can be worked on and will improve with age.

Spot on mate. I think he will be a better player then Sonko, and is a long term replacement for Ingimarsson.

Imagine that in a couple of years Sonko and Bikey at the back.

I'm afraid I'm in this camp too. But then Sir Steve has consistently proved me wrong, (except about Paul Brooker, Lloyd Owusu et al), so who the hell am I to question this signing!
