Coppell Young Manager

by No Hoops » 16 Dec 2008 08:58

The Blackburn Chairman(?) has just announced that Blackburn should be like Boro' and Reading and give their young managers a chance.

Oh dear!

I think he might mean that even if a Manager fails he should be given a chance which has annoyed me somewhat as Coppell has by no means failed, but has been our Rock through some great years.

Steve Coppell is Premier League Management, Paul Ince is not!

Rant over

Was hardly young when he joined us, and he has been in management for 20 odd years

Without researching this in greater depth, I would hastily suggest that Coppell is one of the oldest managers in the Championship... maybe he's referring to Pardew?

SC is always a lot younger than you think though - he's actually only 53.

It's because he retired so young through injury (28), and has been managing for over 24 years already, that people think he's older.

No biggie there. Just grateful Mr Madejski didn't feel it neccessary to sack SSC after our disasterous season last season!
I for one, can't wait to get back into the PL and hammer Portsmouth and Fulham for sending us down! anyway... who's B'burn gonna get now? Hmm.

Souness is the favourite, isn't he?

Yes, but some at Blackburn are still pissed off with him at the way he walked out on them to go to Newcastle.

I could have predicted this. He moved up too quickly. He may have done ever so well in the basement division, but the Premiership is a lot more harder and I thought he needed some experience in either the Championship or League One.

Hasn't Allardyce been pointedly refusing to discuss the Blackburn job frequently?

I think he has a management style that works with lower league players, but the overpaid, pampered Premiership footballers will not want to put up wth it.

Really?

Admittedly, markedly different management styles but its the same end result.

When you come to a club and make the MK Dons captain your "best" signing it says it all really!

On a related note - what has happened to Morten Gamst Pedersen, James Derbyshire and Roque Santa Cruz? All three seemed to be pretty decent over the last few seasons and I've barely noticed them this.
