First Reading game was a 2-1 home defeat to Man City in the League Cup in the 93/4 season - if I remember correctly both Quinn J and Quinn N were on the score sheet.

First match I attended was Oxford 2 Man Utd 0 in November 1986 - Alex Ferguson's first game in charge.

Thought we looked very inexperienced and was a bit surprised that Harper/Hunt/Gunnarsson were left on the bench for this one. Also toothless up front - one good cross just after the opener and Hunt's shot near the end about all we mustered. Don't think anyone played really badly but Kebe was outshon...

Agree with much of what's been said here. The game was crying out for someone to take charge and we didn't appear to have anyone who was interested in taking on that responsibility - no leaders on the pitch or in fact anyone who looked like they were remotely interested. Was almost an 'end-of-season...

As an employee of Ernst & Young I have always wondered what the 'squabbles at the Christmas party' reminded me of and now, thanks to Mr Flanagan I know.
