What we do know is with this direct style of play, signing a creative midfielder is pointless, as he's bi-passed.

I think this is another thread - you want to be on "the last taboo playing on the same side"

It's probably better to bypass that.

Royal Ginger Too soon

I was surprised to see this so soon, too. My dilemma: try to follow the game on the net (always disappointing) or wait another 8 hours until the game is shown on FSC (always ugly - at least 1/2 the game).

Appealing is moot unless there is a procedure in place to use video to reverse a decision.

Re: How can a team playing so poorly have such good current form

The question is whether you want a good technical writer or a good fiction writer. A good fiction writer is entertaining, but the subtexts can get confusing and, in the end, you just don't get it. A good technical manual will instruct you in what you need to know.

I predict that I get to watch the game. First time since the Man City FA Cup match and second this season. To the Premier League, where we'll be on American TV more often.

Re: Long - time for a change?

That, isn't statistics, thats probabilities..... If I'm not mistaken, the only reason to use statistics is for their forecasting value. The way to forecast future outcomes is to determine probabilities. Hey! It appears that statistics and probabilities are closely related. Especially the way Snowba...

Re: Final 12 Games

True, but Everton were in form, and had lots of good, expensive players and we still beat them with a lesser team - and in so doing achieved only our 10th clean sheet of the whole season (that - for me - was the most surprising aspect of that game). In other words, there are far too many variables ...

Re: Relegation form?

All I will say is "where on earth did that performance come from?" (a) Sticking with a defence that is second-best in the league. Includes playing Harte! (b) Bringing in a great mid-fielder (Tabb) (c) Bringing back a very good creative midfielder who works well with Tabb (Howard) (d) Pers...

Decent player? With a bit of work ? Could be a success? Not exactly sticking your neck out to be fair, Ian, with those safety nets and same could be said about anyone we sign. Having said that though your tactful choice of words is refreshing and wise and much better than totally writing a player o...

Re: Let's talk Tactics

4-4-2 does seem to be the obvious choice now with our wingers. If we stick with the current formation, I wonder if Davies will be given a shot at the attacking role. Or perhaps Antonio.

Tabb is out for the foreseeable future, so you have to keep two of Gunnar, Karacan and Howard in the middle.

Judgement reserved as on all new signings, but he does sound like a perfect fit (based on playing 200 games and only 24) and, as has been written, In Brian We Trust. The thing that caught my eye was that Williams called Reading a "big club." I'm not used to that. And it seems to me that th...

In a night headlined by blowouts through out the league I've been following football in England for nearly 50 years, and I have no idea what this means in the context of our game!!! after a first half tackle from Luke Sassano saw the Red Bull properly expelled. I'm guessing it's something to do wit...

Re: play-offs?

At this point, playoffs are a bit of a stretch still. Expect Swansea and Cardiff to finish with 72 points (extrapolate their season-long and recent form to May). That means we need 22 points from the next 9 games. It's possible, but still unlikely. But if we do finish 7-1-1, who's stupid enough to c...

Re: 2-0 and we fecked it up

To me it was reminiscent of the Confederations Cup last year in South Africa. The US team, after beating Spain, went up 2-0 on Brazil. The superior side won, but the upstart made them sweat. Sometimes, that's good enough.

Of course, the semifinals would have been nicer, but c'est la footie.
