Re: RFC Players who proved you wrong

Thought that Kevin Doyle was never going to score when he first came to Reading.

Players need a run of a dozen games or so to settle in and establish themselves.

Re: Failure to buy a striker

LoyalRoyalFan McDermott might have to start answering a few questions.

Strikers will score given chances.

For a team with 2 wingers Reading provide little food for strikers to feed on.

Difficult to see alternative formation though as midfield lacks creativity.

Re: Back from the Game, Northampton Town 24th August

What is apparent is that Williams doesn't have a right foot nor Pearce a left foot. So when a an opposition player cuts inside from the right wing we are very noticably exposed. Kelly and Hunt were obviously well short of match practice. Scrap playing wingers for the moment. Lets have a more solid m...

Re: Southampton v Reading (Friendly)

Went yesterday - we were poor for the first 65 minutes As an observation it seemed as we were set up for an away game from the kick off. The back four rarely strayed out of line for the first half. Neither Griifin nor Williams made any attempt to push forward. What was concerning was playing in tha...

Re: Credit to Madejski and Hammond

But I am impressed at the appointment of McDermott and the results so far. Whether Madejski was taking a gamble on McD or he was just going for the "cheap" option I will never know. But if he was taking a gamble, kudos to him for the appointment. I feel I own him and Hammond an apology. W...

Re: The rest of the season?

This league is terrible, terrible. With the exception of Newcastle at St James any team is beatable. I just got a feeling. We as fans owe JM so much for having the balls to make a decision most were opposed to. Isn't it great to play in a league where the results aren't a formality. Where money and...

floyd__streete Lowest league crowd in many years, 14,000 which proves that the Reading public are losing faith in the McDermott regime.

I'd love to attend every game but can't afford to.

Remember we've had a few cup fixtures this year including replays.

Re: Back from the Game - Villa

Disappointing really. None of the defenders come out of that blameless, though Mills and Fed seem to have done the least wrong. Really losing faith in Ivar quite majorly now. This sums up what I was saying to some fans at the game during half-time. In the first-half we allowed Villa to get too many...

Re: Back from the match WBA F.A cup

Never seen players manhandled by stewards in such a way in my life. They seemed hell bent on stopping the players even coming across at the end.

Truly disgusting.

Took the shine off a really good cup tie.

Re: McMessiah's Tactics

We are in a dogfight. B Mc is finding out which players are up for it. Howard yesterday demonstrated the attitude that is required. Long deserves a decent run in the team. A dozen games at least. If he's not up to the task. Then he goes in the summer. You can't rubbish a player that hasn't had an op...

Sol Campbell was a striker. Spurs played him at left back initially before converting him into a centre half.

Would you trade our finances and league position for: Cardiff's Portsmouth's Palace's Not a rhetorical question. I'm genuinely interested about some posters on here. Football was a sport. Now its a business. Success is now based on who can pay the biggest wages and afford the best players. Supporte...

Re: O'Dea on his time at Reading

And which of those other 22 teams have recently been in the Premier League with a £30Mill per year wage bill whose parachute money is about to run out? Gate receipts, TV money, few transfer fees - we were in the black in our second season in the Prem - we then sold Kitson, Shorey, Sonko and others ...

Re: Win the Cup or stay up?

If the team manage a good cup run then there's every probability that league performances will reflect this.

The past 2 games have given the team confidence, something to build on.

Re: We're catching up

Season is only just beginning. Look at Ispwichs recent form including yesterday since the Newcastle drubbing. Played 7 Won 1 Drawn 5 Lost 1 Not bad for a team that was bottom of the league. Just like BR, Roy Keane is progressively putting a team together. It takes time. Results over next 10 games wi...

Re: Back from the game

I don't get all this hype over Karacan, and I'm still undecided on what he brings to the team. Personally I would rather have CIsse or Gunnarsson playing in the defensive role in midfield. THey offer the same level of passing ability but a far greater physical presence. THe amount of times in the f...

Re: Is there a generation gap among fans?

The game is different now. Going back some years to smaller first team squads of 18 players and only 1 substitute allowed. The effects on a result of who was available for selection, who got injured in a match, who got sent off in a match made such a difference. Taking Manure as an example. However ...
