Re: Back from the Game - Palace

I did have good things to say about Harte's passing in that thread;-) It was the best I've seen for a season, and one cross field ball to Kebe was real quality.

Re: Back from the Game - Palace

Wake up folks. Palace sold/released half their team over the summer, and their top scorer, Ambrose, was injured today. They had two excellent chances in the first half (a corner volleyed over and Fed's excellent save) plus an unopposed header in the second (when Reading's offside trap failed). Soft ...

Re: Harte Signs

From where I sit, his passing was fantastic. One cross field ball to Kebe was the best I've seen for a season, and he was consistently finding people in good positions.

Re: Why I Hate Shane Long

To borrow a phrase, "He doesn't have a football brain". Long doesn't run into space, or at least not the right space. Church creates far more chances for himself in the same amount of time. Church also has a better 1st touch. (my car has a better 1st touch) After a pre-season in which Long...

Re: Davies to Reading?

That would be an excellent addition. We've got to get another central defender in - ideally one with some pace. Davies has something to prove - much like an Arsenal loanee a few seasons back;-)

Re: Back from the game - Newcastle

Took along a neutral tonight who was not impressed with Reading at all. "What good was all the possession in the first half if you don't actually shoot?" "Kebe is a luxury in today's game. He doesn't defend, he doesn't go for 50-50 balls. He hides and doesn't look like he wants the ba...

Re: Rosenior return? / Right back spot to fill

Maybe they're putting Cummings in the shop window by making him captain, so he can be sold in the summer? (We can only hope)

Re: Credit to Madejski and Hammond

Their next test is coming very soon. The parachute payments end this summer, and there will be inquiries from other clubs to buy our better players. SJM will also have to decide if he'll pay what it takes to keep Bertrand, Griffin and that CB whos name I can't spell. Will SJM cut his cloth, let the ...

Re: Reading Podcast -Show 56 Ady Williams final part up

It was a real coup getting the interview with Ady. He's obviously very keen to get a management job, but the odds are stacked against him. It would be great to get an update after the summer to see what his experience has been and what he is going to do next.

Most over rated player - look no further than RFC's record transfer fee paid: £2.5m for Emerse Fae

Re: Brian on Radio 5live tonight

McD speaks so much sense, thanks. It was also interesting to hear them discussing Nicky Shorey in the next segment and speculate that his appearance / disappearance seems to link with Forest's rise & decline.

Did anyone else notice that Jimmy won a tackle in the second half? Forget the new found confidence and selfishness to take a shooting opportunity, making a tackle was something really unexpected.

You forgot to mention the apple crumble. Got to admire a man who'd sacrifice a decent crumble to speak to the fans.

McDermott on Radio 5Live Friday 20.40

For what it's worth, here is a quick summary of a live interview with BM on 5Live tonight. "Didn't read the press following the LIverpool match. It's gone now. We're just trying to build on the result. 4 of the 5 matches I've been in charge of have shown improvement." When asked about what...

Re: Brendan Rodgers = Too Positive ???

After the Swansea game Rodgers was quoted "It's not about one game or even one season, we are in the process of rebuilding" You can read a lot into that statement. - I don't have the funds to buy, so I have to develop the players that are here - I don't really expect to finish high in the ...

No quite as articulate as Sir Steve. Hopefully he'll have other qualities as a manager. The ability to break up and rebuild a team would be useful.

Re: Player Of The Season Poll.

Doyle has never stopped working for the team, even when it has been tough to get goals. With Reading's long ball game, missing mid-field, and midget stike partners, Doyle's done a remarkable job to score as many as he has. Image where we'd be if he were not in the side.

Re: FAO Sir Steve

Steve Coppell is the second best thing that ever happened to Reading Football Club, and I'm VERY keen for him to stay. (John Madjeski is the best thing that ever happened to RFC) Steve will learn from this experience, and he probably already has. Yes, he was too loyal, and it takes a brave man to le...

Re: It is one man's fault

What a bunch of sh*te you spout about Coppell. I don't believe it takes RTG to recognise what Coppell has achieved for this club. What was unachievable for 135 years, he achieved, but now he's no good and was just "lucky". Where have we heard this cr*p before? Oh yes, Big Sam has taken Bol...
