Re: Where will we finish?

WestYorksRoyal
Oilroyal Much talk of a top half finish. From what I’ve seen, if we can keep players fit then this is a top 6 team all day long.

I hope so. I stuck £30 on it at 16-1 the day after the window closed.

Also on at 16-1 for playoffs. Mere £4 stake. Looked absurd a few weeks ago. But ya never know...

Re: New

Welcome. I'm lifelong Reading but as a student lived on the Ocean Estate in Stepney Green, so used to wander down and watch the Os of a Saturday. One vivid memory was seeing Cloughie, in that familiar green top, when Orient hosted Forest in FA Cup. 0-2 I vaguely recall. Bit pissed. Also watched a fe...

Re: Anyone For Chinese?

I do pay for the FT (well, my employer does).

But not really for its coverage of Chinese interests in the EFL, which is not exactly its core purpose.

FT still maintains high journalistic standards, nothing like local tat.

The original did, of course, have paragraphs...

Piece on ft.com about the deal today. All sounds rather peculiar, to say the least. https://www.ft.com/content/681342ec-251f-11e7-8691-d5f7e0cd0a16 Also. Re: FAO Federici

Anyone who's played sport has blundered, and should understand. What I felt in that stadium last night was that pretty much the whole place muttered a version of "the poor sod" at Federici's slip. Have heard nothing but kindness towards him from everyone I've met today. I hope he picks thi...

M Brook Over the past 40 years, would have to be a toss up between Parky and Bowman.

Bowman gets my vote.

Silver Fox Anything less than top and Adkins will need to have a long hard look at himself

Adkins loves a long hard look at himself. But he doesn't see what we see.

PieEater The only difference is that he seems more willing to spend it than SJM.
Spend his own money or spend money his football club can borrow from lenders?

Why would you spend your own money when you can borrow it against the club?

Not my earliest, but really vivid is the moment Socrates' goal against Italy in 82 kicked that little puff of chalk dust from the line behind Zoff. Perfect.

None cooler than Brasil 82.

1974. I was 8 and so ignorant of football on TV (parents have a LOT to answer for…I am scarred) that I missed the final and was, instead, at the Garlands School (Burghfield Common) Summer Fete. I remain disappointed to this day. Remember a lot about 78. The Ally's Army build up. Scotland v Holland i...

Could see him going to QPR if they go up or possibly Palace; no way he'd come back here even if we could afford him and after the mercenary way he treated us I'm not sorry. Absolute drivel. How so? He ran his contract down so he could command a big signing on fee and big wages when he went to warm ...

As a slight aside, what always makes lol* is when people (not you) talk about club owner's "investing" money into the club, and then getting pissy when those owner's take a return on their investment. You mean when 'investing' means 'spunking your wealth on my hobby whilst I abuse you fro...
