Re: Bindon to be sold

This is my take on it. Take the money. As much as it means Dai won't be forced to sell, it means we can survive to the end of the season at least on the money with no points deduction. Rueben and the academy are just becoming a pure talent culturing machine. To the point, eventually young talent wi...

Re: Mark Bowen betting charges

I'm so not surprised about this. I guess he and his lawyers will be angling for what used to be called a compromise agreement. The club give him some money to save the hassle of a tribunal he might win. He accepts less than he would win, but doesn't run the risk of losing a tribunal and getting noth...

Re: FA Cup 1st round draw Monday 14th October

Don't FA Cup rules state they are entitled to the whole of the South Stand anyway? I'm not sure if it's a percentage of the overall ground capacity we must make available to listing supporters, or just the capacity "available" for sale on the day. But who cares, they can have the South an...

Re: CONFRIMED: Latest rumours Confrimed as Unconfrimed

From the Chronicle... "The owner of Reading FC has faced a series of court cases in China this year over unpaid loans worth hundreds of millions of pounds, The Reading Chronicle can reveal.  These include loans linked to a company that was run by Chinese businessman Benny Kwong, who has been re...

Re: On this day #5847

I remember him more as saying everything wasn't good enough - the players, the coaching, the tactics. He certainly did seem to be saying the younger players kept making the same mistakes, but to be fair, he was right wasn't he? Also, to be fair to him, that rant was the beginning of the turnaround i...

Re: Ex Players

With the odd exception (Olise) players really don’t seem to do too well after leaving us do they? Holmes - sent off last game and mainly benched McIntyre - has played consistently but Portsmouth bottom Meite - still gets game time but a horrible goal/assists records since he left us Rinomhota - car...

Re: Ex Players

Saw the highlights package on Sky of the Portsmouth / Plymouth game (I was bored - don't judge me) - mostly saw McIntyre give the ball away then lose his man with a weak attempt at a header for the Plymouth goal. That may not have been very representative of his overall performance of course, but I ...

As much as anything else, it's nice to have an external voice in the national media refuting the plastic fans, tin pot club, soulless stadium, no history, blah, blah blah stuff we get from some others.

Re: FA Cup 1st round draw Monday 14th October

Whatever happens we'll be the bad guys.

So I say don't patronise them - send out a strong team. Try and win by as big a margin as possible. Afford them the respect of taking them, and the tie, seriously.

An obviously, do not, under any circumstances whatsoever, lose.

Re: MATCHWATCH : Fleetwood Town (h)

Fiasco getting in - some people were still in the queue 7 or 8 minutes after the kick off. Overall a pretty decent game. Only the pre-season friendly atmosphere was disappointing but hardly unexpected. Anyone calling it the worst game ever was obviously not at the seemingly never ending sequence of ...

Re: CONFRIMED: Latest rumours Confrimed as Unconfrimed

Well that ties in with Howe’s comment that we were funded up to mid November I did think the current party in talks were committed to funding us in the meantime though Yep - I'm sure the official club announcement said exclusivity was given on basis club would be funded by prospective buyer until c...

Re: Bowen sacked

Bowen confirmed as a speaker at STAR fans forum next month...could be interesting! A sacked and disgraced former employee who is suing the club? What are STAR on? Do we know he is actually suing the club? Usually there is some negotiation before an out of court settlement, which could be what has b...

Re: Opposition fans back from the game - 24/25 page 225 onwards

He kept on picking his own son...who was by far the best player available at the time. He kept warning survival was the goal and that anything could happen...then it did happen (points deduction). He said the club was broken behind the scenes and no manager could succeed...so we got big changes off ...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Bristol Rovers (h)

I've seen a few comments this season from opposition fans about how we "celebrate like we've won the cup". Let me put that in context: Our owner is slowly strangling the club, we're not allowed to sign any players and outside a core of 10 or 11 players, our squad is bulked out with teenage...

Charlton's club shop is selling a half and half scarf ahead of the match against Wrexham I'm not often moved to disgust by the trivialities of how people choose to engage with football, but if true, this is an absolute aberration. Great club, proper stadium, knowledgable and passionate supporters, ...

Re: You're the new Owner - What's your 2 Year Plan for Success

I have a very limited understanding of the nuances of how a football club truly works. But my ideas are: Review the hierarchy and ensure key senior positions are filled by suitable people with integrity and professionalism Implement a mission statement or a clear view of where the club wants to be....
