Re: A loan again (naturally)

everything is relative... Upson was considerably better than any of our players at the time and also any opponents. he was a man mountain and looked quite out of place. See him in the premier league and he doesn't look that special. But for us at the time he was awesome David Lee fits that descripti...

Re: Wembley Memories

the 1995-5 season i'd spent most of my time and money travelling around the country to watch the royals. I was in Derby at Uni at the time and there were quite a few handy localish games to go to. That whole season was a rollercoaster with McGhee going then us making the playoffs, playing some very ...

Re: Gilkes's Number

Before that he played a lot at left wing when Reading mainly used Traditional numbering, so was #11 alot. (2&3 were full backs, 5 &6 were Centre Backs, 9 &10 were strikers, 7 and 11 were wingers, and 4 and 8 were Central midfielders) Yeah, but to confuse matters, sometimes no 4 was a ce...

Re: Gilkes's Number

He ended up in the play-off final season as 7, despite as someone mentioned actually palying Left-wing-back. He played in the Simod cup final as 10 - makeshift up front with Tait (9) due to Moran and Whitehurst being cup tied. Before that he played a lot at left wing when Reading mainly used Traditi...

I remember Paul Futcher getting hoffific abuse whenever he played at Elm Park after that despite his brother doing the deed!

25 Years Ago... Royals v New Zealand. George Best making his Reading debut! Bonfire Night 1984 2-1 loss for the Royals I think.. Beavon scored?? Followed by a fireworks display! probably my 2nd ever game. I think my dad took me to a league game a few weeks before. Was one of only 2 matches ever watc...

Re: 9 years ago tomorrow

the previous year's game was an all-time low point. I've never felt worse after a Royals game. especially as they tried to hurd us onto a bus, whne we were parked in the totally opposite direction. However, this game was one of the all-time great away trips. Nights like this will never be seen again...

handbags_harris 3 April 2004 mate, for your info. That's just the consecutive run. First game aged 7 in 1989, pre-Madejski.

Average Attendances 08/09:

Didn't realise Derby were so well supported.

Re: Roy Tranter - RIP

Very Sad news. RIP Roy Tranter. Without his actions, and those of Roger Smee etc, none of us would have the memories we have of following Reading Football Club over the last 25 years. I know my life would be a whole lot emptier without my 20+ years of RFC memories. Every single Reading fan has a deb...

Radio 210 sport, away with the Royals and Horseman Coaches. Coaching at it's best.
