Didn't he score the winning penalty in a league cup match v Darlington or someone? I think he scored the equaliser at 3-3 with some sleight of hand at a corner. Do Darlington still exist? Went there (old Feethams ground) when we first won promotion (in modern era) to second tier in 1986.....does th...
Over the 90 minutes. Did we look like a team that could compete agaiinst the better teams in the league? Not really no. The above summary is pretty accurate. On top first half, should have gone in two up really. Ipswich came out fired up and no surprise on the balance of play that they equalised. T...
Yeah, engineering works on the Liverpool St line most weekends due to Crossrail. Still quicker to go this route than via Cambridge. They are well practised at the bus and train changes so it should work without a glitch - long old tube ride out to Newbury Park though.
Bruce Stuckey is living in semi- retirement in the town of his birth, Torquay. I bumped into him in the Clocktower pub when on holiday there a couple of years ago. He is a great raconteur and enjoyed telling stories about playing against the likes of Pele in the North American Soccer League, and pla...
Ibrahima Sonko playing for Harlow Town at Needham Market 21 November 2017. He is the player at the back. Harlow lost the match 5-1 and Sonko described the game as "a bad day at the office" when I spoke to him afterwards.
Glen Little playing for Heybridge Swifts against Phoenix Sports 22 April 2017. This was possibly the most bizarre match I've ever seen. Heybridge needed a win and other results to go for them to stay up. They found themselves 2-0 down at half-time, clawed their way back to 2-2, but then had a man se...
Sorry if any of these are already mentioned but... Steve Brown is joint manager at Margate. Neil Smith is managing Bromley Peter Grant has an assistant coaching position with the Scotland National team. Kevin Watson is coaching at Hungerford Town Jamie Cureton is still playing for Bishops Stortford....
Watched him many times at Colchester. He's decent but I'm doubtful that he's good enough to displace Mannone. He'll probably have to wait for the League Cup to get a game. He's very tall but lightly built and hence his song at Colchester "That boy Sam Walker - he's seven foot tall".
McShane: 5. He probably wouldn't say that was one of his better games and enraged the home crowd by going down at one stage, on apparent orders from the bench, for an injury which involved changing his shirt for some reason. McShane came out of the dressing room at full-time with stiches in a cut o...
The Reading team coach has been involved in a collision on leaving Portman Road. Someone has impaled their car in the rear of the coach. Car looks a mess but coach looks not too bad. Don't know if anyone has been hurt but expect all on coach to be OK.
As an exile it's sad to hear that the programme has gone downhill in recent times. However, even when they did publish proper pen pictures of the opposition, they often got it wrong. Here's a couple of examples:- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WhE5yHsIfVw https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BlW9Gu3WOnA
I just thought I'd share a bit of news about a former player. I had a holiday in Torquay late last year, and by pure chance bumped into Bruce Stuckey in one of the local pubs. I overheard him speaking to some of his mates about football and it soon became clear that he used to play for Reading. I co...
