Probably nothing but he posted a picture from a car parked up at the SCL today.

Re: Pre-season 2024

Sutekh And aren't Reading on a roll of 6 preseason friendlies with no wins and no draws?

Yep 6 defeats last preseason - we only scored in 1 game as well I believe.

Re: Pre-season 2024

Hull are a decent footballing side and this will be a good test against a side that will play their first team. The days of high profile friendlies in the final pre season Saturday are probably over given USA/Middle East owners at the top clubs. IF the current rate of overseas ownership continues t...

Re: Pre-season 2024

Kinda glad we haven't gone for or been offered a high profile friendly and gone for games that are winnable (on the day) to hopefully build momentum ahead of the 10th August (whatever side we have)

Imagine we are looking at 2 more games to be announced around the 13th and 20th July.

Re: World Cup 2026

Qatar's late winner against India proving to be rather controversial. Ball appeared well over the line after the keeper made a good save. Qatar striker backheeled the motionless ball back into play allowing his teammate to nick the winner. No VAR and linesman at that end was on the other side of the...

Re: TAKEOVER *NOT* CONFIMRED

If he can stabilise the club and then pass it on to someone decent with deeper pockets like he's seemingly done with Wycombe then it's a positive. The only questions are what his methods will be to achieve that and what role the Saudis have. He's not exactly starting off on a positive footing with ...

Re: TAKEOVER *NOT* CONFIMRED

Agreed. It sounds like he has probably made some very powerful enemies out there, However, wouldn't put it past him doing a runner (or at least his assets doing a runner) to a country that isn't too worried about welcoming dodgy characters with iffy money. He's already here mate Indeed Couhig stuff...

Re: European Leagues Thread 2012/2013

In Italy, I read this morning about Carrarese Calcio who have gained promotion to Serie B.

This apparently brings to an end their stay in Serie C where they have played since the 1977/1978 season. The longest stay in the division by some 32 years.

They are owned by Gianlugi Buffon.

Re: Olise

Far be it for me to criticise Chelsea’s transfer policy, but with quite possibly the signing of the season 2023/24 playing in exactly the position that Olise plays, this doesn’t seem to make a lot of sense Unless Palmer is off to Real Madrid or Barcelona, of course Chelsea don't have a transfer pol...

Re: TAKEOVER *NOT* CONFIMRED

Ian Baker writes in The Sun today that Rob Couhig is part of the consortium looking to purchase the club. May be a case of 2+2=5 here but he did leave his Chairman role at Wycombe on Friday and has been seen at the club. Baker is also Wycombe based, so may well have contacts close to Couhig. May not...

Re: Generic clubs in financial crisis Thread

At the end of the day if an owner wants to spend x funds on their club then they should be totally able to do so cleanly up front without any "shenanigans" or the hiding behind other methods of payment. But in doing it, it should be quite clear to all that the funds provided are not provi...

Re: Generic clubs in financial crisis Thread

I'm not anti them spending a rich blokes money but I don't like them deciding the rules that have been agreed don't apply to them.

Probably looking forward to this one more than any major tournament for a while - 2 reasons, 1 being I live in a host city and the atmosphere here is already building and 2 I have tickets to a game - will be my first major international football tournament game.

Re: TAKEOVER *NOT* CONFIMRED

Well at least we know where we are. At least the Euros start next Friday so can simply ignore the slow motion car crash that is our club. Wonder how much longer Selles will be prepared to hang on as every day, let alone week without a new owner and the level of security that should bring will undoub...

Re: The Academy/Development squads watch thread 2015//16

Apparently one of the trialists who played over the weekend is 18yo Spurs midfielder Billy Heaps. Which may be my new favourite footballer name. The Tottenham website says: Billy Heaps hails from Stevenage and played for his home-town club before joining us as a 13-year-old. A talented central midf...

Hampden Park was completely rebuilt in the 1990s and isn't considered a new stadium, but the Millennium Stadium (which was basically a rebuilt National Stadium at Cardiff Arms Park) is considered a new stadium (incidentally, according to the Wikipedia article, the National Stadium was built on the ...

Re: Football Rel8d Gripes

Session ales only? My gripe is with the fans who made them introduce the rule. Sadly at 95% of matches I go to, I see at least a handful of "fans" who provide ample evidence that they can't be trusted to drink in the stands. Yeh I get that. But prohibition never works, treat people like n...
