Re: Fans' Verdict - Di Canio?

9 games to go and in the bottom 3. One Man is ideal for the job and hasn't even had a mention!

He's not in work right now and has lots of expedience in this situation

Step forward........

Re: Fans' Verdict - Di Canio?

My first reaction was a straight, "No oxf*rd way!" The fact that he is ex-Swindon does put a bad taste in my mouth TBH, but I appreciate that it shouldn't. More than this though, he is too controversial for my liking! We have had a succession of managers who have been of the character that...

Re: The Red Dragons of Cardiff

Cardiff City have announced that they will play in red from now on, with a dragon as their logo. When this idea leaked some time ago, there was massive opposition to the idea from fans, causing the owners to do a little back-tracking and reportedly ditching the idea. However, today, the club has an...

Re: SHAUN LONG?!! (Media don't like us /can't spell thread)

who is shaun long? thought it was shane? click here I was in the pub a few days before the final and someone was telling me how he is a die-hard royals fan, before going on to sing the praises of Shaun Long. He agreed with me when I said Shaun Long needed a hair cut :) He also seemed surprised when...

Re: Gylfi or Zurab, but not both???

I just thought I would re-visit this thread and see what people thought about it. Clearly at the time, the majority opinion was that Gylfi was more valuable, but we’ve kinda done alright since he went.

It makes interesting reading IMHO

Re: Take away the pens and free kicks....

TBH, I think we all knew Gylfi would be gone within the next 12 months. We'd have loved to have kept him, but he was attracting plenty of attention. £7m (Was it £7m? For some reason, I thought it was £6m, but the REP says £7m) for a young championship player is extremely high. I wonder if Royals set...

Gylfi or Zurab, but not both???

Simple question - If you had the choice of which of these two you would like in the team, but you could not have both, which one would you have? I would have Gylfi, purely because I think we need his goals. We don't have any really potent goal threats. We have guys like Long and Kebe who have been p...

Gylfi or Zurab - But not both???

What it says on the tin really. Losing Gylfi was a huge blow. Getting Zurab back is a big plus, but does it outweigh the loss? Personally, I would prefer to have Gylfi here, because we don’t have much in the way of goals in the team, so his contribution in that department will be key. Zurab will be ...

Re: Carlos Queiroz

To be fair, he has a point. You must give them plenty of time before a tournament, so that they have time to dose up on their drugs before the tournament starts. If they waited until the last week and then took all their drugs after that, they could harm themselves. If they are not taking any...

Just how good is Scholes? The best the world has ever seen?

It may be just me, but it seems that Paul Scholes has kinda become a God in some people’s eyes over the summer. Before this summer, he was a good premiership player, who had managed to remain a regular in a very successful Manure side for a very long time. In many ways, it's hard to knock him. At In...

Re: Back from the Game - Forest (H)

I thought we still lacked a little crispness and confidence, but from the time our goal went in, we were the better team. I also thought our reaction to their goal was far better than when Scunny scored their first last week. Why does Shane Long keep playing on the wing when he's our only striker up...

I've just had some bets on the game. All for small stakes and just for a bit of fun :D ... Forest to lead at half time and Reading to win - £2 at 25/1 Forest to lead 1-0 at half time and Reading to win 2-1 - £1 at 45/1 Kebe to score and Reading to win 2-1 - £1 at 25/1 So, if forest are 1-0 up at hal...

RBM, you'll be able to get there by bus this Saturday. After that, they're going to review the service, but don't be too surprised if it's running for the rest of the season

3 things you would change

Warning - War and Peace post :D If you could change 3 things about football, what would they be? It could be anything, but preferably things that realistically could be changed - i.e. "bombing the whole town of O*ford" is probably not an option  . Perhaps it would be a change to rules...

Re: Reading vs Pompey(A) Match Thread (2/46)

17th looks so much better than 23rd. Woohoo - Mid table mediocrity rules OK :D I'm just relieved, because I sit next to a Pompy fan at work. He'll be at the game and I am sure I'll get a full report. If they had won, he would have rubbed it in. Instead, we get a point on the road and are above them...

Re: Back from the game - S****horpe.

The goal should NOT have stood! I bow to the knowledge of the great God of football that is Chris Kamara! At the time, he was praising the referee for getting the decision right, but said something along the lines of "It was the correct decision, because the pass from the Burnley forward went b...

Re: Where to sit

Well, the view from the back of Y21 was superb, though it was a bit of a struggle to see the scoreboard. For a fat git like me, it was a hell of a climb to the top  For the Forest game, I have booked into Y25. I thought things were a bit quiet at the Scunny game. In Y25, I expect atmosphere - D...
