Re: The hardest player to ever play for Reading?

1) Hurlock without a shadow of doubt.

2) Billy Whitehurst - nutjob.

3) Mick Tait - but not in the same 'intimidation' ranks as Hurlock and Whitehurst.

Bikey was just bonkers ... he wasn't 'hard' per se

Re: Who do you WANT to win the play-offs?

Hendo Lincoln
Oxford
Blackpool
Sunderland

In that order of preference.

As much as the heart says Pox the head says Blackpool just for the weekender.... (although, undoubtedly it would be a Tuesday in February and it would save the TVP from aneurisms.)

Re: Who do you WANT to win the play-offs?

It is a consolation that three of the play-off participants will have wasted their time :? But which one would you like to succeed? I vote Brentford. Have been a very exciting team for a few years, continuing to impress despite selling their best players. Vaguely local but no animosity with us at a...

Re: Meite as good as Percy Freeman

Percy was a tank with a really crap first touch - just like Yakou. Yakou undoubtedly has more pace and he's good when he has a bit of space coming on from the right wing onto his left foot. Percy had a thunderous shot and would muscle people out with power not pace - a true 1970s centre forw...

Re: Internationals coming up

Mid Sussex Royal Puscas just sent off for Romaina, straight red, winning 2-1 (he hasn't scored)

But he did start....

Red card here: https://streamja.com/Ew7R6

Now Armenia have scored twice in the last five mins and won 3-2. Bonkers!

Re: Rumour - Kadeem Harris

Patterson - good grief! Fat and slow.

If we're into naming randoms, Brereton from Blackburn has played very well against us twice in a row at the Mad House. No idea what contract he's on etc but if we're looking for a left wing/inside forward I'd take him over Harris.

Re: Opposition fans back from the game

Hound
Stranded Yep. Birmingham, Huddersfield and Coventry look the most likely to be joining Wycombe to me

Oooo, I hope so. Had a cheeky 90/1 before the season started on Wycombe and Huddersfield to go down and Norwich to go up.

Re: Opposition fans back from the game

This really comes across as being crass as most football fans want a sensible summary and more exact commentary of the game as it happens from a radio station than some sort of Timmy Mallett experience. Absolutely bang on. Dellor trying to identify as a man of the people with his limited 'I play ri...

Today was solely down to Pauno.

He takes responsibility for getting it wrong..... especially taking Holmes off.

Gibson was solid.

That is all.

Random one but the midget Chelsea midfielder - whatshisname - Gianfranco Zola.

OK, it was a PSF at EP but it was just a pleasure to watch him control the match with seemingly so little effort.

Team player or not, I'd take him just for what he did away at Ipswich. :D

He's a bull in the Diego Costa mould. Pauno would call him a 'warrior.'

Re: Opposition fans back from the game

The need to change the offside and handball laws before I will ever be in favour of VAR. What pisses me off about VAR - apart from the complete incompetence and time it takes - is that in the 'olden days' one was offside if one's feet were in advance of the last but one defender ... when did all th...

Re: The best game you've ever seen?

Blackpool 0 Reading 4 in 1994. Absolutely played them off the park. Got clapped off by the home fans. Tranmere 1 Reading 3 PO Semi Final 1995. Total football. Blackburn 3 Reading 3 2007. Last game of the season, party atmosphere and an end to end game. Don't need to read the thread any further. 2 o...

Was there any "bantz" with the empty away stand? Would've liked a "your support is oxf*rd shit" or a "you're so loud you sound like Aldershot", that sort of thing. Hahaha! That's exactly what I was thinking, too. A rousing rendition of "You're so loud you sound li...

Two stonewall pens - ref got it right with Laurent's claim.

We didn't move them enough, not enough width and too ponderous to pull defenders out of position.

If we can't do the basics.....

Re: How good is Yakou Meite?

Better than the sum of his parts. Bit like Michail Antonio in that respect - they don't really look like they're good at football but they're incredibly effective. He's got tonnes of enthusiasm too, definitely not a surly wideboy like some modern professionals. Yup, this. Actually, I'll come clean....

Re: How many Managers have you been through ?

Ha! Now I remember..... senile old git that I am. Yes, thanks for putting me straight. I had completely forgotten about the smaller 'directors car park' before the larger footy in the community 'court', especially as my and SWLR's spot was underneath the smaller advertising sign in the Town End (bef...

Re: How many Managers have you been through ?

not quite true, though. It was behind the Town End. I am 100% sure of this.[/quote] Luxy, the mists of time must be fogging your memory. If the concrete car park - and it latterly had a rather fetching tarmacadam coating - was behind the Town End it would have engulfed the back bogs, gardens and ha...
