Can't argue with the numbers. What were Steve Coppell's stats for the first 100 games..?

Re: RFC claims to fame

Dave Moreline coached the football team I used to play for.
Was fourth official several times at Elm Park in the 80's.

Re: Brian Howard

He's average when things are going well, but as soon as we go a goal down he is nowhere to be seen. As one of the more senior players that should be the time he becomes more influential , not less. I seem to remember he was lauded as a goal scoring creative midfielder, not seen much evidence of the ...

Re: Refwatch: Reading v West Bromich Albion

Roger Kirkpatrick....he was the ref who stood behind the goal at penalties to judge wether the keeper moved before the kick was taken. Cracking idea until he tripped over the stanchion one game. When the keeper made a save, play carried on and was on his backside 50 yards from play. Still would have...

Re: Dick Habbin

Before home games he would walk around the pitch reading the matchday programme. Always happy to sign autographs, although he never said much. Got several progs with his scrawl on them.

Re: Back from the game - Blackpool

Both sides were poor, and so was the pitch. We were scuppered when Gunnarsson went off. He was the only player prepared to stand up to Charlie Adam. Adam ran the game, and had free reign once Bryn had gone. It was no coincidence that Blackpool scored the first goal ten minutes after he left the fiel...

Re: Your first game

My first game was Denis Allen's testimonial 1972 (I think). Bobby Moore, Geoff Hurst, Martin Peters and several other big names all played. A cracking goal from Gordon Cummings gave Reading the lead. It finished 3-3. My first league game was v Torquay Utd a few weeks later. We won 2-1. Cummings voll...

Re: 38 Years ago today

I was there. It was a great day out, fantastic crowd and lots of noise. My dad got me the ticket off a friend where he worked. I remember being so despondent when we lost, at the time it felt as though we were by far the better side. On the tv the following day it seemed a bit more even, but that wa...

52. First game was Dennis Allen's testimonial in the early 70's. First league game was a victory over Torquay Utd a few weeks later. Won 2-1 with a Gordon Cummings volley. I was truly addicted from that moment.

Re: Back from the game - Barnsley (h)

Pleased with the three points obviously, but not a great game. I don't like the Long and Church pairing upfront. They don't combine well together, Long's first touch is not good, his passing is poor and Church got caught offsie too much. He should be encouraged to have a pop at goal more often, he g...

Re: It all starts against Barnsley - Barnsley Prediction thread

Based on tonights game, if Cisse, Ingi and Kebe are involved we have not got a hope of winning. If If Kish and Tabb come into the starting line up then maybe we do have a chance. 0-2 or 1-0, depending on starting line-up.

Re: Back from the game - Sheffield Utd

Dreadful game between two poor sides. Very disappointing. Bertrand and Karacan had their worst games of the season so far. McAnuff, Ingi, and Rasiak were all poor, although to be fair nobody came out of this with any credit. The penalty miss was the turning point. Heads dropped and once the second g...

Re: Scunthorpe - back from the lame

Marek is so frustrating. He is supposedly this world-class midfielder, but he so rarely plays like it. He hits a great 30 yard pass one minute and then struggles to find a team-mate with a 5 yarder moments later. In addition the man cannot tackle. He was poor against Scunthorpe, but the worst perfor...

Re: 10 things we hope Brendan has learnt so far

Pretty much agree with all except point 5.

Mareks performance in the first half v Coventry was atrocious. He is not all he is cracked up to be. One game does not make him a bad player, but he is probably our most inconsistent performer.
