Re: The Retained List

Given the cost of running a club of Reading's size in League 1 ( I reckon it will be around £10M net loss), I can't see how any new owner would not target promotion next season - anything else is just creating a bigger financial mess. I mean you'd have to question the commitment of any owner who sa...

Re: TAKEOVER *NOT* CONFIMRED

If, as suggested, Howe is the source, we know how he deals with negotiations from the FA minutes....

There's nothing that we can do about it at this stage, so no point stressing until there is official news...

Re: Embargos, HMRC Payment defaults, non payment of wages, the usual under Dai Wrongge

I love that the agent had the cojones to send an unsolicited invoice for £800,000 without a formal contract in place. And he seemed genuinely surprised when we didn't pay it I too would like to try my luck invoicing random companies for ~1 million pounds, you never know   But isn't that t...

Re: Embargos, HMRC Payment defaults, non payment of wages, the usual under Dai Wrongge

So when Bowen said there wasn't a sell on clause he wasn't telling the truth?..... I'm shocked... I’m reading the FA decision to mean the agent got 10% of what the club received for Olise when we sold him to Palace (or would’ve done if the clause was active) - I can’t see any reference to a sell on...

Re: TAKEOVER *NOT* CONFIMRED

In summary then. A deal has been agreed in principle (https://www.footballinsider247.com/reading-takeover-deal-agreed-in-principle-after-breakthrough-sources/), it's just the owner's tests to be passed and then we can hopefully all get back to some sense of being a normal league club again. IF it d...

Re: Embargos, HMRC Payment defaults, non payment of wages, the usual under Dai Wrongge

I don't profess to know about how these things work, but given the timing, I wondered if this was publicised today in order to ensure transparency regarding potential on-going liabilities - at least now any prospective buyer has the full facts to assess any impact before moving forwards. Interesting...

Re: TAKEOVER *NOT* CONFIMRED

for some reason this has made me think of this anecdote by Tommy Doherty - old skool player and former Man United Manager... “My contract at that time was for £10 during the season and £8 in the summer,” he said. “Their offer was £12 in the season and £10 in the summer. I told them I wanted the same...

Re: The Retained List

Depends what you mean by that. If you mean betting the farm on going straight up then they'd be mad to do so because it's just not that likely and the financial impact of doing it is disastrous. As we've seen with that approach over a 10 year period. And any new owner can't spend a penny in transfe...

Re: The Retained List

Assuming that this is the baseline - helps us if/when offers come in.

I liked the look of Carson early on - but perhaps his pace (lack of) was an issue.

The future will all depend on the intent and depth of the pockets if/when new owners complete the deal.

Re: New owners' top 5 priorities

" and the question is what sort of investment achieves the goal of increasing our value for them to sell on"

Agree 100% with this - wait and see and hope it involves positives for the fans on and off the field - its all gonna cost and that has risks and rewards

Re: New owners' top 5 priorities

Here's where I'm at. Football is broken - you have to pump in more money than you can make, unless you happen to be very lucky in the Premier league (over and over again) But, the experiment of the last few years means that a sugar daddy who owns the club as a hobby, throws money at it and gambles ...

Re: New owners' top 5 priorities

If the new owners are the rumoured investment group, then their #1 priority will be to push for promotion out of this league - sustaining losses at this level will not be acceptable beyond a season or two if the strategy is to promote and flip the club. Whilst the wish list is commendable, I can't ...

Re: #SellBeforeWeDai (to someone fit and proper)“ supporters action group

Wholeheartedly agree with this Good points - but then it is impossible to vet potential owners - only hindsight tells us that signing this player or not selling that one at the height of their form or relying on a so-called "super agent" for recommendations or hiring the former CEO of a t...
