Re: The Phil Dowd appreciation thread.

Ian Herring Reminded me a bit of a pie-loving Rob Styles. Huff and puff-pastry refereeing with a thick look-at-me sauce.

Nice analogy.

Re: The Phil Dowd appreciation thread.

LOL at blaming the ref. It took you a while to show. Most here aren't blaming the ref for the final result, I think the consensus is Swansea just edged it. The manner of how they so is the issue and the fact that the game ended up focussing on the ref for a lot of the crowd, which took away from th...

Re: Independent assessment of today

Cheers Jacques - I don't think it was a 4-2 game. Maybe Swansea were just better at converting chances. Once they did that, they just defended deep and you had to run at them to create anything yourselves. For what it's worth, I think BM has done a fantastic job for you, and will continue to do so,...

Re: The Phil Dowd appreciation thread.

Neither looked like a pen in real time, but the first was most definitely conclusive in replay. The second was never a penalty. Griff used his body strength to turn as the ball came in and he never made any movement towards the attacker Is this the same game Rother watched, in slow motion, from eve...

Thanks for that ITFC_Keane, that is pretty much my take on the game, so good to hear it from someone with no axe to grind.

Re: The Phil Dowd appreciation thread.

It's funny how someone hundreds of yards away and a bit wonky after a few drinks thinks that they know better than the referee who was in a much better position to judge. If you are referring to me, haven't touched a sniff all day, and as I have stated, it was the prevention of allowing us to play ...

TheMaraudingDog RL - get yourself to bed, watch the game tomorrow then look in the mirror, take a long hard look at yourself and say "you've let yourself down"

We are discussing Phil Dowd's performance - thanks for the superb contribution to this discussion with this comment.

Re: The Phil Dowd appreciation thread.

For me the problem was the lack of consistency in decisions between the teams. Griffin's yellow card for what was a strong but legitimate tackle basically sent Reading the message "tackle Swansea and you will get booked", hence why from that point on the players were playing patches - they...

Re: Who's shitting it?

I'm so relaxed it's unbelievable. As far as I am concerned we've already lost and I've reconciled myself with the loss of Long, Kebe and Feds. After our last two finals, and the absolutely crushing feeling of defeat, I've decided to just enjoy the day out and be thankful that from nowhere we've got...
