Re: The Academy/Development squads watch thread 2015//16

Young lads getting a bit of a pasting tonight it seems, however when you look at City's investment in Academy and Youth infrastructure over the past few years you realise things are a bit different in this competition nowadays The City teamsheet doesn't exactly scream 'homegrown' https://pbs.twimg.c...

Re: European Leagues Thread 2012/2013

The Club World Cup is already proving as irrelevant as any year, I actually quite like the idea of an intercontinental club competition, but FIFA have made it a complete meaningless shambles So usually my interest lies with following Auckland City, the annual minnows, who will always be a fixture in...

Re: The Academy/Development squads watch thread 2015//16

Not a huge amount of interest ahead of our 2nd (and final) game against European opposition tonight, shame really as a game against Hertha Berlin at the Madejski with free entry may have drew a decent crowd by youth match standards if it weren't a complete dead rubber Anyway, here is the Reading tea...

Green made a lot of saves so not sure how we only had one on target

Re: We Need a Striker!!

Given fans are constantly crying out for a 'proven goalscorer' (despite very few of them in our price range actually existing), maybe we should sign Rhodes just to keep them quiet, or at least so they can move on to complaining about something else His goalscoring record is pretty mental though, si...

Just looking at who would have qualified in previous years Let's say the Football League rewards a club if an U21 Englishman features in at least one third of a team's matches (15 games), we'd have earned theoretical money from... 2015/16 Jake Cooper (24/46) 2014/15 Jordan Obita (43/46) Jake Cooper ...

Re: EFL Futures

Also is Liam Kelly really over 21? It's surprising given what we've seen this year why it took so long for any manager to give Liam Kelly a go alongside those of his age group, especially as they've had plenty of chances - he's been a professional since the days of when Daniel Carrico was s...

EFL Futures

This won't be a particularly groundbreaking thread, but it didn't quite fit into any of the Academy/TV/General Football topics we have already so here we go... The Football League have announced their EFL Futures campaign, which is meant to promote young English talent across its divisions Basically...

Re: The Academy/Development squads watch thread 2015//16

Bit of a weird situation for our U18 and U21 sides in that the draws for the next round of the FA Youth Cup and EFL Trophy have been made, yet we still haven't played the previous round in either competition FA Youth Cup (4th Round - Last 32) Reading or Manchester City v Liverpool or Crystal Palace ...

Re: The romance of the cup

BBC will probably go with West Ham vs City and BT will show us and Preston/Arsenal 8) Although it's nice to be right for once, I was pretty annoyed at how predictable the TV selections were, particularly the Beeb's They shove the 'Magic Of The Cup' down our throats at every opportunity, and when th...

Re: Ben Hamer

Mikkel Andersen is counted by the club as an 'Academy Graduate,' which I believe is because he played a number of times for our Under 18s when he joined Although, he only featured in the Qualifying Stages of the Champions League, playing one game for Midtjylland last season (a 2-0 win over Gibraltar...

Re: The romance of the cup

Last season Man Utd drew Sheffield Utd at home in the 3rd Round and got given the Saturday evening slot on BT (won 1-0 thanks to a 93rd minute Rooney penalty)

It's also worth noting they play Hull in the EFL Cup on the Tuesday following our game, so that rules out Sunday/Monday

genome Was it someone on here who bought a shirt with Sigurdsson 10 on the back the day before he was sold to Hoffenheim?

Pedant Alert: Sigurdsson wore No.8 that season

Mind you, could always take the club to court

Barrett hits the inside of the post with a free-kick, 5 minutes left

A loss would see us knocked out with a game to spare, a draw probably wouldn't be good enough either
