U14 Premier League Albert Phelan Cup South There are 16 teams divided into 4 groups of 4. Games take place over the whole season, with the top 2 going through to the quarter-finals. Final is usually in May. Reading are in a group with West Brom, Wolves and Cardiff. Only result I know so far is that ...

U15 Premier League Floodlit Cup - Reading played away to Southampton last night and won 5-2. The game was at Totton and open to the public, but I didn't find that out until just now.

Re: MATCHWATCH : Stockport County (a)

According to the excellent Heaven on Earth book by Alan Sedunary (RIP), the starting 11 for when we last played Stockport ( https://royals.org/matdoc/030398.html ) was: 1. Nick Colgan 2. Martyn Booty 3. James Lambert 4. Gareth Davies 5. Linvoy Primus 6. Keith McPherson 7. Jason Bowen 8. Ray Houghto...

Re: The Academy/Development squads watch thread 2024/25

I've seen two versions of the U18 Premier League team of the week (presumably both unofficial). After the win over Chelsea, goalkeeper Josh Welland is in both of them, whilst defender Ashqar Ahmed makes one list. I can't remember ever seeing a Reading player named before. To be honest, I don't reall...

Final update from the U16 Premier League Tournament. Reading did beat Norwich on Saturday morning (by two goals) and finished third in the group ahead of Stoke. We needed two more goals to get through to the Plate competion for 9th to 16th. Middlesbrough won the overall competition, beating Norwich ...

Re: The Academy/Development squads watch thread 2024/25

An update after day 1 of the U16 Premier League Tournament. Reading drew with Stoke in the first game, and then lost to Manchester United by 2 goals. We're last in the group and cannot realistically qualify for the quarter-finals. A win over Norwich (who have two wins so far) in the last game on Sa...

Re: The Academy/Development squads watch thread 2024/25

A couple of competitions that I don't think have been covered in this thread. U17 Premier League Cup - this is different from the U18 Premier League Cup... 28 teams taking part, the 26 Category 1 Academies, plus 2 from Category 2. 7 groups of 4. I think it's group winners plus best 2nd place to the ...

The big question, of course, is how many goalkeepers the useless American referee will allow Burton to have on the pitch at any one time.

Sutekh Last I heard he was coaching at Solihull Moors but left them last December after 6 years. For the record he'll be only 50 in December this year.

Wrong person, wrong age.

Re: Reading FC Womens World

The League website is now set up for this season, including the new club name:
https://fulltime.thefa.com/index.html?league=479698
No fixtures showing yet apart from the County Cup. I read somewhere else that the FA Cup draw is this week.

On the "Matches" pages of the club website, the women's team have been removed. Not just for the coming season, but previous results as well.

Re: Embargos, HMRC Payment defaults, non payment of wages, the usual under Dai Wrongge

I reckon that these two recent charge clearances may relate to actions taken a long time ago. In other words, this is just administrative clearing up. If so, then it's more to add to the long list of admin failures by RFC staff in recent years. But it might also be possibly good news in terms of sal...

Re: Berks and Bucks Senior cup 2023/24

The Berks and Bucks Senior Cup is for first teams, so obviously there is no rule excluding people who have played any number of professional games.

Reading enter a youth team but that is merely a club choice.

Re: The Academy/Development squads watch thread 2015//16

And another thing, which will no doubt crop up sooner or later. The top 16 U21 sides qualify for the EFL Trophy. However, there is a rule that says U21 sides of clubs in Leagues 1 or 2 are excluded.

So we don't get to enter twice, and presumably 17th-placed Southampton get a place instead.

Re: The Academy/Development squads watch thread 2015//16

The system for the knock-out includes the sentence "These will be one-off elimination matches with the higher-seeded team at home." So we only get a quarter-final home game if Nottingham Forest beat Fulham on Monday evening. Unfortunately, this aspect of the draw got missed by a lot of peo...

Re: The Non - League thread

Went to the Basingstoke Town game today, Paul Hodges for Basingstoke scores from 90 yards! Yep, that’s right, 90 yards. Off one post, hit the other and spun in. Sight to behold and he meant it. Hope there will be a video doing the rounds soon. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aM1Vv6KOC1o
