Re: The phoenix club thread

What about FYDY Reading F uck You Dai Yonnge Or to please Brighton etc Al Tinpot Reading The FA's Competitions Committee also has jurisdiction over the names of clubs applying to join leagues - they can veto proposed club names or name changes. A few years ago Whitehawk FC wanted to change to "...

Re: On This Day

Friday wasn't wrong, was he? John 'Minty' Murray also scored some outrageous long shots (one I remember into the top corner at the Town End, struck from just in front of the away bench) but for spectacular there was also Jerry Williams' dazzling collection of own goals. What a finisher! I think the...

Re: CONFIMRED - The final countdown

I think the EFL will need to see a process happening. If there's no movement and nothing happening, that'll be curtains, but as long as something is moving in the right direction they'll avoid the ultimate sanction for as long as possible. Do you disagree that for as long as possible is still only ...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Blackpool (a)

It's not so many years ago that Blackpool fans were fighting to get rid of their toxic owner, the odious Owen Oyston - and fans of lots of clubs went up joined their protest march.

Re: Rival Watch

Honestly can`t see the attraction in Ainsworth, ok he did well at Wycombe without pulling up any trees, but failed miserably at QPR and now Shrewsbury. Possibly still living in Finchampstead has something to do with it. I'd probably prefer the drive to Shropshire every day than needing to go around...

Re: The generic transfer thread

Anger at 'one of your own' leaving at the end of a contract is honestly one of those things in football I think i will just never get my head around. I think it's just another example of "look how much of a supporter I am" syndrome. If I get angrier than you do when someone wants to leave...

Re: The phoenix club thread

Is Oxford a better bet for ground share? Much easier train journey than Wycombe isn't it? Stands back... And we could call ourselves the Thames Valley Royals…. Have to be a fairly new fan to even think us playing in Oxford would work ! Of course Oxford are about to build a whole new stadium so perh...

Re: Generic clubs in financial crisis Thread

Greenock Morton's funding model is that members pay a monthly donation (usually £10, £20 or £30 a month, although some pay a lot more) that goes directly into the playing budget. In the five years since it went into community ownership over a million quid has been donated. But there are no silly vot...

Re: Generic clubs in financial crisis Thread

Yeh something they dont like about FC100,000 but it doesn't make it clear And I doubt Reading would turn them down given our situation They're the latest iteration of MyFootballClub that dallied with Ebsfleet a few years ago. They don't have a proper hands-off relationship between the membership or...

Re: The phoenix club thread

We could start an alternative Reading FC now if we wanted, but I doubt we'd take many fans. But if we got kicked out of the EFL and had to start at the bottom, I imagine an alternative would get plenty of support over a non league club still owned by Dai. He'd own the real estate assets still, but ...

Re: CONFIMRED - The final countdown

Because it's evidence of dishonesty. Same reason it's relevant for the owner of a club. Don’t think owners are barred because of a criminal conviction are they ? Just fraud. Barring an owner for a driving offence would be crazy. Maybe should clarify unspent criminal conviction, which would be an au...

Re: CONFIMRED - The final countdown

The usual governance model for community owned clubs is a two-tier one - there is the "Membership Organisation" (Wimbledon ISA, Morton Club Together, Foundation of Hearts, Exeter City Supporters' Trust, Seadogs Trust, etc) which people belong to and contribute to, on the basis that no mem...
