Re: Best RFC goalie of all time?

How about Colin Court...

Rembered fondly for his own goal during his one and only(?) appearance against the Swine, during the 82-83 relegation season.

Still, at least it's a claim to fame for the fella

Re: Reading 4 Plymouth 3

Reading 4 Plymouth 3 I'll never forget the Argyle fans giving it the big one when John Clayton scored their third, just after half time in the Town End, up on the fences and all that. Not for long though... Imagine then the total mayhem, jubilation, chaos, call it what you like, that was to follow i...

Re: Bryan Hughes on loan....

Royal Rother Who was the bloke in the 80s RFC team whose nickname was Yosser?

Edit: Price wasn't it?

Yep, Ken Price, came from Gillingham during the 1983 relegation season.

A good bloke, could certainly look after himself. Used to drink in The Crown on Caversham Bridge.

Re: Rumour: James Harper

Always makes me laugh when people say they "know somebody very well connected with the club/deal" etc but then fail to reveal their source  Basically they heard it from somebody down the pub and if it comes true they look like some sort of well connected dude but if it turns out to b...

Re: Rumour: James Harper

I can totally guarantee that this 'rumour' is absolutely 100% true. A fee has been agreed with Wolves for Harps, although I do not know the exact amount. Excuse the cynicism but how can you guarantee? Fair comment mate, but without totally saying how I know, all I can say is that I heard it from so...

Re: Season Ticket Prices for next season

[I also bought my ticket "off plan" but I think I am slowly coming to terms with the emotional attachment and will probably not renew next season. Nothing particularly to do with the current fare being served up as I have seen far worse in my time. More just a general disilusionment with ...

Re: Cardiff FA Cup Match Thread

well done reading and especially coppell. We are not arsenal, our reserve team is not good enough for a result at cardiff. Deserved loss and this is what happens when you devalue the FA cup. Pathetic. Agreed. Agree totally, it's pathetic the way the club 'appear' to value the FA Cup, and as usual w...

Re: Worst three matches watched

Three worse games: Reading 0 Chesterfield 0 (1982-83) Early season and a terrible game. We went down that year, we should have seen what was coming. Reading 0 Swindon 1 (1987-88) Boxing day, absolutely dire, again we were heading down and it showed Watford 1 Reading 0 (2003-04) Last game, and clingi...

Re: Top Three Matches watched

Most, if not all of the obvious one's have been mentioned, but three others which spring to mind: Reading 3 Millwall 3 (1982-83) mass protest from the town up to the ground over the proposed Maxwell merger, a big relegation game against the 'Wall' and we were 3-0 up after about 20 minutes, they had ...
