Re: 8.00 Evening kick offs

Of course everyone on here is going to argue for what suits them but I'm with the original poster. In this day of increased workplace flexibility where many people can leave the office at 4pm or work from home, 8pm leaves me kicking my heels for hours before the game only to have to make a mad rush ...

Re: Preston fan in peace and ale

Can confirm the Moorbrook is excellent - have visited the last two times we have played at Deepdale and left for the ground in a pleasant haze. Thanks for a lovely post.

Re: BFTG Huddersfield

Verdict from a pal who is a journalist covering Huddersfield (he does not support them): "difficult one to judge tonight. Town dominated the ball, as we're used to now, but didn't create much first half, although Wells had two one-on-ones that he struck against Al Habsi and should have scored. ...

Re: MK Dons (A) - 16th January

Leaving aside the fact that no right thinking person should even think about attending a game at Franchise FC, the Red Lion in Fenny Stratford is an excellent ale pub on the canal and although a fair walk away, the best stop off.

A neat summary of the situation as it stands from Jon Keen, prior to the signing of the kit deal yesterday:

a few personal thoughts I have written on the history of matches between the 2 clubs for a Bradford City blog along with a look forward to the game:

Re: Do we want promotion?

Hardly a relevant question at the moment although glass half full people may take encouragement that some of the injured players are back and we are a mere 7 points off the play-offs Anyway - some thoughts and a reminder of what it was like last time: http://thetwounfortunates.com/promotion-tales-re...

Re: Have Reading ever been a successful counter attacking te

Under Pardew (I think) in the 2002-3 season, we had a few matches which fit this bill - notably 1-0 wins at Brighton, Gillingham and Palace with 4-5-1 deployed and Nicky Forster the usual lone front man. Therein in a nutshell is evidence of when this can be used as a tactic - Forster had searing pac...

On the Championship preview edition of the We Are Going Up podcast, betting expert Mark O'Haire said he thought 20/1 for relegation was worth a punt in our case: http://bhappy.wordpress.com/2014/08/07/season-preview-part-5-3/ More previews can be found at Watford blog BHaPPY: http://bhappy.wordpress...

Re: Record Watch 13/14

Leicester have won 8 in a row and are up to 63 points now. I'm worried. Here is a rundown of predictions for their fixtures (semi-serious only):

Re: Reading's Hard Men

Ricky Newman came on in a game against Norwich once where we had been bullied by Iwan Roberts and others and started putting a few choice tackles in - we still lost but the atmosphere changed and led to a change of fortunes on the pitch. Martin Allen coming in as assistant to Pardew led to a stiffen...

Re: Secret Footballer

Just finished the second book and there does seem to be a lot of evidence to point to Kitson including the Greg Halford to Sunderland followed by a screaming match in the tunnel after our 2-1 win over the Mackems in December 2007, a mention for a very thinly disguised Andre Bikey, unpaid players rev...

Re: BFTG - Blackburn (a)

Plusses were Pearce and McCarthy in particular with Akpan doing well when he came on and Obita doing well with some of his deliveries from dead balls. 4-4-2 didn't work in the first half with Guthrie and Baird outnumbered by Cairney, Dunn and Lowe so credit to Adkins for changing it half time - as t...

Some interesting thoughts on the McDermott regime so far from a Leeds fans:

It's a long piece and discussion of McDermott only really kicks in half way in but it's a well written lament.

Re: back in the car from the Brighton (H) game

we need a striker for sure but... Tomasz Kuszczak - excellent player Stephen Ward - excellent player Inigo Calderon - excellent player Gordon Greer - excellent player Matthew Upson - excellent player (as anyone who remembers his spell here in 2002 will know) so let's get real - that back 5 was never...

I'll say - for a striker who failed miserably at Sheffield United. We move on.
