Re: The Thank You Madejski thread

Those of us with longer memories tend to recall the bad old days of Frank Waller.......... By comparison the arrival of Mr Mad was for many of us like Moses fresh from godly communication at the summit of Mt Sinai. In recent years some of his business judgements may have been faulty, but he never al...

Re: It's a generational thing

Having two daughters supporting RFC seems quite a rare thing as far as I can tell from the responses! My youngest was also part of the Reading Royal Ladies run by Doug (can't remember his surname) from Twyford in the late 1980's/ early 1990's. On occasions the team used to have half of the pitch at ...

Re: It's a generational thing

That rings a bell.
I remember the walls were painted brown - a choice colour for a shit pub. The beer was good though - they served a surprisingly good 'skull attack' otherwise known as Brains SA. I assume it was demolished years ago............

Re: It's a generational thing

Brilliant to see RFC has (almost) entered into the annuls of Ancestry.com. I seem to recall a few dedi's had their ashes scattered around the hallowed turf of EP, or was that one of these apocryphal stories that assume truth and magnitude after about 30 years? My grandson of 4yrs living in Yorkshire...

Re: It's a generational thing

Hi Lux, Until the kids arrived I was always behind the goal at the Tilehurst end. When my two girls came along from about the age of 6 or so in the Stands nearest those choice loos. My eldest still talks about the first game she went to - Newport County, 2-1, Ollie Kearns scored one of them. Then th...

It's a generational thing

Ok, ok get the newbie crapology out of the way first if you must.............have read Hob Nob for probably too long for my own health and safety - but then, hell, it's all subjective, fun and an opportunity to shit over your own soapbox................. Idle speculation.........(Bury, in the rain, ...
