Re: Pogrebnyak

What is the story with his contract clause? can he cancel it without mutual consent? This would truly mess us up with striker numbers.. No. AZ has said we will let him go if we receive a suitable fee. It's just a poorly written article. He's off though, and that's a good thing because his body lang...

Re: BFTG Swansea

How was Akpan being played? He seems like he might be able to play a more attacking mid role to me Looked like a right forward when he came on. Did well, got into some good positions and wanted the ball. Lack of movement around him for him to play the ball. Should have scored with a bullet header, ...

Re: BFTG Swansea

It was good to see us show some patience with possession, but we looked a lot less comfortable when we were closed down. Guthrie and Drenthe did well but both faded in the second half. Le Fondre is far too isolated up front on his own. This formation will not work for him, ever. Our movement off the...

Re: Chris Gunter to Derby County

I understand that Derby are considering a move for Gunter who doesn't fit in our plans. Geoff at the Swan mentioned this before our pint! I didn't think your rumours could get any worse but this one's an absolute shocker. For a start Derby haven't got the money to get him, and he is clearly in Adki...

Re: Loan Watch 2013 - 2014

Mixed reviews from the Aberdonians... http://www.afc-chat.co.uk/forums/index.php?showtopic=34253 Mixed reviews? He got man of the match, they're hard to please. He isn't match fit and was thrown in at the deep end, so he was always going to look a little off the pace and slightly heavy footed. In t...

Re: Kevin Doyle

At the drop of a hat I'd have him back! I wasn't so keen initially but I'd have him back as well. He'd be an improvement on Pog, who looks disinterested and can't get away quick enough. Doyle can hold the ball up, and is useful with his noggin. I wouldn't want to see us pay any more than £1m though...

Re: Oxford United

Barry the bird boggler Watford is probably an obvious one as well.

I think it's unlikely we'll get any 0-0's against them this season too. Should be two cracking games with both clubs looking for promotion, and local ish as well gives it another edge.

Re: Brian: The right decision?

McDermott sounds very frustrated in today's YEP. No movement expected in the transfer market until players are sold and the wage bill comes down. He's taken on one almighty job there. High expectation on and off the field and not a lot of money to achieve it. I'll be surprised if he lasts the season.

Re: Brian: The right decision?

There's no doubting (particularly in the case of Federici) that McDermott was afflicted with a mild dose of Coppellitis but there's also no doubting that he was forced to off load Long etc having already been given precious few resources to finance a Championship winning squad. Whilst I agree, the ...

Re: Speculation - Jamie Mackie

Ian Royal I'd like to think we're aiming a little higher, but Mackie would certainly fit the 'Reading Way'. Honest hardworker with a decent record.

I like him. and I'd be happy with us signing him.

Agreed, though he's gone to Forest hasn't he?

Re: Pogrebnyak

melonhead highly paid does not equal ambitious

Sorry, where did I say it did? Signing a Russian international who was away at the Euros at the time, who had just finished a very successful loan period at an established Premier League club, that was an ambitious signing!

Simon's Church THis is what happens when your owner decides to sign players for you.

No, this is what happens when your club makes an ambitious signing and you get relegated and he wants to stay in the top flight.

Re: Next seasons kit choice?

It's dreadful in every way apart from the red numbers. Much prefer last seasons, eve though that was also pretty crap No it's not. Agree with sandman. This seasons home kit is far better than last seasons. Last seasons was a disaster. It's a shame the hoops don't go all the way around, otherwise I'...

It looks less horrific when you don't have a white t-shirt underneath. From the front the kit is great, it just looks bloody awful from behind.
