Re: MATCHWATCH : Wrexham (h)

It looked like a harsh decision. Tbh, i felt the ref was poor second half: I don't think the penalty was a genuine foul, it just looked like two players getting close to each other and it seemed like Pereira asked to take the kick, so really wasn't it him that was time wasting, not Stickland? I thou...

Re: CONFIMRED - This might be it!!

I’d buy RFC, get my image on every seat and wall of the newly-named Lux Arena, buy the whole Réal Madrid squad and have Taylor Swift perform every half time. On stage with Coldplay. Lux Arena sounds alright tbf  If SCL ever get fed up with bailing Dai out maybe we could persuade Lux soap to sp...

Re: CONFIMRED - This might be it!!

I don't understand why any prospective owner would choose anything other than to go all in for the academy. Our club has a lot going for it; location near London, massive catchment area, top training ground, reasonable stadium. All the potential is there, you just need a strategy to achieve it. Wel...

Re: CONFIMRED - This might be it!!

I'm not sure I understand how the potential new buyers can lend money to so many clubs. Didn't we once (back in the prem days with AZ) get in trouble for borrowing money from some company (was it vibrac?) who had also lent money to Aston Villa? It seemed strange to me at the time that we got punish...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Wigan Athletic (a)

I feel like I owe Noel an apology. I was disappointed when Selles left and I didn't think Noel would keep us at the quality we were playing before. I have to eat those words, I think we're overall we're potentially better. We're a little more direct now which looks less fancy overall, but we look fa...

Re: Hunt v Selles - what's changed?

Yeah, not blaming Selles for wanting out, but I felt like we had a connection with him and the players and then him choosing to leave basically broke that. I do agree that we seem to have lost a lot of energy in our play. The high press has gone which gives our opponents a lot more time on the ball ...

Re: What records do Reading FC hold

Sutekh The record for “scoring” the most league non-goals:

Watford (a) 2008-09
Rochdale (h) 1975-76

Would this also mean an ex-Reading player has the record for not-scoring the most non-goals? Assuming someone was credited with scoring both of those goals

Re: What records do Reading FC hold

We did go some extraordinary number of minutes played without scoring a corner for a while (about a decade ago now), did we get some kind of record for that?

Re: MATCHWATCH : Burton Albion (a)

To be fair to Hunt, anyone in his job right now has absolutely nowhere to hide. There's no hiding behind some expensive transfers, no yearly refresh of players, there's no blaming the previous coach. It's purely down to tactics, training and man management. He's still inexperienced at first team man...

Re: CONFRIMED: Latest rumours Confrimed as Unconfrimed

From The Spectator magazine, 18 January, The turf column: "(Kia) Joorabchian has spent £24 million plus at Book One of the October yearling sale. " "That took his total spend for the year to more than £38 million." On horses, not footballers. Makes you ...? Admire / sigh / shudd...

Re: January transfer window

Actually you make a good point. The young players need the experienced players to help them develop. Wing is probably the ideal tutor for savage and Craig, Yiadom for Dorset and Abrefa etc. Either way, it doesn't feel like we have a great deal of long term future prospects. It's frustrating that our...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Leyton Orient (a)

Let's be honest, Selles had the team playing way above where they should have been. We were naive not to think we would drop when he left. We're now at the stage where Selles' influence has mostly faded. That said, regardless of how Hunt manages the team, we have no money to recruit anyone new, so i...

Re: January transfer window

Seeing as how it doesn't look like we stand any chance of resolving our long-term finances and we're not going to be able to sign anyone for the foreseeable future, I would be inclined to say automatically accept offers for anyone over 24, automatically reject offers for anyone younger and try and s...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Stockport County (h)

Can't really have much in the way of complaints today. Beaten by a better organised team. They took advantage of our lack of pace at the back. We did well to get our goal but it still felt like they were more likely to score a third, than we were to score a second, with Pereira being by far the busi...

Wasn't someone saying that couhig wanted to bin off the academy though? Or was that just speculation? The academy is the only thing that's kept us afloat the last 18 months, I hope we keep it.

Re: Players who started off terrible but became good

I'll add Tyler Blacket to the list. I appreciate not everyone thought he came good, but grew to like him. Can't leave out Bobby Convey either. Sat in the reserves for a year and then suddenly was unbeleivable. Cheeky little addition of Daniel Carrico too. Look solid, but not outstanding in our squad...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Northampton Town (h)

I didn't think we were particularly amazing, but I feel for Northamption, they will struggle if they keep playing like that. Its a shame that our passing feels a little less slick than it did, but i am glad that Noel has given the team the option to go long when appropriate (see second goal for exam...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Northampton Town (h)

I would argue it doesn't matter either way. Noel has the job and we have no money to change staff or players, so we are where we are. We should really be getting behind the team because there is no other option.
