Re: Corner Watch

Why do we never put someone on the near post ? Under hit corners can still be flicked on. Everton hit a poor corner today, well short of the near post and Barry scored from it with the aid of a small deflection. Think the most dangerous corner is the one whipped in towards the near post, rather than...

Re: Things that annoy you when you watch Reading

The bloke behind me in the North stand that gives a running commentary of the game. He knows sod all about football. Thinks Gunter is an Irish International. Only happy when he is moaning and we are losing. Ever thought of actually encouraging and cheering on the players mate ? Never seen a player p...

Re: BFTG - Arsenal

Brilliant day. So proud of all the players. Half way through the second half I actually started to think we would win, which made it even more disappointing when they scored. Hector was superb, Pearce so solid, and Williams was immense. Haven't seen any highlights on the tv, but was Mackie hauled ba...

Re: Funny / Annoying things you heard on Saturday..

I have no voice today, from shouting amnd singing. Actually difficult to tell the difference between the two. Apologies to any Arsenal fans that sneaked into the upper stand.

Re: Pubs for Wembley

Trying to remember where we went for the Swansea game. Was it somewhere in Baker street ? I know it was full of Reading fans, food was a bit slow, and we left it a bit late to get to the game.

Re: Bradford ticket news

All this bloomin' moaning and hoo-ha over a 12.45 kick-off. You''d think judging by the sensationalism of Charlie Watts we were playing Rejkjavik.... 4 hours easy to Bratfud on a Saturday morning. Leave at 7.30ish and still have time for a pint, chips and curry sauce. What's the problem? Don't fanc...

Re: What's the best atmosphere you've ever experienced.....

SCIAG QPR at home, 05/06. Particularly when we won the penalty. Murty to score for the points record.

Agree, a proper party atmosphere. Even QPR supporters joined in with the blue and white display before the game.

Re: Games You Wish You Hadn't Missed

69/70 Reading 6 Barnsley 2 - playing for East Berks schoolboys and missed Les Chappell's wonder header. 69/70 Reading 6 Barrow 3 - grounded for putting chewing gum in my brother's hair while he was asleep. :| The Barrow game was my first Reading game. Assumed all future games would have as many goa...

Feds for me, but it would be nice to see Hector get in the reckoning by continuing his recent improved form.

Re: Which moment in RFC history do you wish you could erase?

I always understood Friday's fee was only £30,000.

If he had stayed with us, and Charlie Hurley had remained manager, I am sure he would have stayed in the game longer, and continued to be one of the best players I have ever seen at Reading.

Feds POTS for me. Sit right behind the goal in the North Stand, and he has made some stunning saves. Best one was the tip on to the bar from Patrick Bamford for Borough.

Re: Which moment in RFC history do you wish you could erase?

Some people never saw Malcolm Swain play then. Losing to Bolton in the play off final was the worst I have ever felt at the end of a game. Having supported Reading since the late 60's, I really thought that was my one chance of seeing them play in the top flight. The team quickly broke up, and it di...

Re: The Yak

Kevin Phillips seems a good example of a striker playing until he was 40. Similar type of player to Yakubu, natural goal scorer, doesn't contribute much outside the box.

Re: Have you taken to Steve Clarke yet?

My comments on results speaking louder than words, was not based on results so far. Just a general comment that some managers talk a great game, and their teams are rubbish. Others can be dour, give rubbish interviews, but get results on the pitch. I know which type I would like. Results have been o...

Re: The Yak

Good short term signing. Hopefully he is match fit though, as he is needed asap. Not worried about what he does outside the box. He is a finisher and that is what we need most. Hopefully he will give it 100% , as it will be his last chance to show what he can do and get a decent contract in England....
