Re: MATCHWATCH : Derby County (a) sponsored by new year realism setting in

A huge few weeks coming up then. Fulham is going to be tough followed by some very winnable home games against the likes of Cardiff and Brentford

Need to take the positives from this one and hopefully get at least a point on tuesday

Back 5 good. Worried about that midfield 3 though. Surprised he has gone without Evans or Joey

With last nights and today's early result, big opportunity here.

his dad is academy coach there, which he came through. Would be very surprised if he really wanted to move

Re: CONFIMRED - Tiago Ilori

I'm guessing he was probably training with us during the transfer 'saga'

To be honest I'm not sure there is any substitute for actually playing - as long as he has been training well I suspect he will go straight in

Re: CONFIMRED - Tiago Ilori

Personally think having a back 5, a midfield of Joey/Evans + 2 of Swift/Kelly/Williams and Yann/G-Mac up front is by far our best set up. Whether Stam sees it that way is of course a different matter. Joey and Beerens are obviously 2 players who he rates, so if Beerens stays in, I'm not really sure ...

Re: Players you'd like us to sign thread

Do wonder whether those players from the lower leagues would actually be any better than Samuel or Rakels (is he still alive?) though you'd have to think either of those two would probably score a fair few in Div2 I'm not sure if there is anyone like Sam Winnall knocking about coming to the end of t...

Re: Players you'd like us to sign thread

Yep agreed - and not play Kelly, Swift and Williams together ever again as a Midfield 3

Re: CONFIMRED - Tiago Ilori

Option 2 massively with Blackett covering LB and LCB and Watson covering RB

Genuinely really like the look of that

Re: Latest set of company accounts

calm down fella, I don't really care if they are there or not, and didn't say the 500k isn't useful, of course it is. It just sounds a little low to me personally, even with the help with the upkeep of the pitch. Realistically does anyone doubt playing Rugby on the pitch damages it? The money they g...

Re: Latest set of company accounts

The rugby question will be going away if and when they move to Brentford anyway. Not a fan of the sport personally, but can see the benefit of Irish playing in Reading. 500k is a pretty small sum for the damage to the pitch though as a result IMO - I don't know if the club gets any percentage of foo...

Re: Players you'd like us to sign thread

Chuba Akpom would be worth a 6 month loan imo. Not a huge fan of loans etc after last season, and would obv mean Samuel getting even less of a look in, but i think it would be worth a go

Re: Derby (A) Predictions

if its the same back 4 as QPR then we'll lose

If McShane is back and Ilori fully fit, which is hopefully the case, then going for 0-0

Re: Rumour - Tiago Ilori

Gunter-McShane-Ilori-Moore-Obita/Blackett sounds an awful lot better than Gunter-Moore-JVDB-Obita at the back

Hopefully this signing means returning to a back 5 and back to some sort of solidity

Re: Rumour - Tiago Ilori

I think it was mentioned on another thread, but realistically at some point you would expect someone moneyed to come in and take over - very surprised it hasn't happened already Reading would be a perfect location for an international consortium, probably very cheap to buy compared to a london club ...

Hound Meite looked at threat certainly - would have put him on at half time

At no point did I ever think he was about to pose a serious threat on the QPR goal. The fact he 'looked a threat' was probably down to the fact that the rest were so p*ss poor!

Yep maybe
