Re: CONFIMRED - Jaap Stam

Step forward Aitor Karanka... etc etc Who was given time. He arrived in 2013, took three seasons to get Middlesbrough promoted, and that with a lot more money than Reading managers are going to get. Let's not forget they sacked the second most successful manager in Reading's history, after 5 months...

Re: CONFIRMED Danzell Gravenberch

I like this signing. No signings under 24 please. No Championship journeymen or Premier League has-beens please. I want young, hungry, inexpensive signings from the lower leagues and elsewhere. I want to shed the dead wood and start the season with youth. I'd prefer not to go up next season, but rat...

Re: Reggae Boyz

I'm just not sure why it was a major upset for the US to lose to Jamaica. If they go on past meetings then yes but on paper this Jamaican team were only slight under dogs if that. It wasn't. I'm from the US and many of our national team supporters (and media) don't really understand the game, espec...

Re: Summer Rebuild

This is a slightly better side than what we saw last year. Given the age and experience of the players being signed, this looks like a team that can challenge for a playoff position but will not stay up if promoted. I think the Thais are okay with that (and I am too). They want an immediate return o...

Re: Summer Rebuild

Can't be bothered to go back through the entire thread, but rumoured targets seem to indicate that Clarke prefers older journeymen from the championship or prem (or just Irishmen from Hull) to younger prospects from the lower leagues. Not saying this is the wrong path, just not the one I'd like to s...

Re: Shaun Cummings to Millwall

Best of luck to him. As a supporter, I can say I liked him. Did a passable job whenever he was called into the side and never complained when he was out of it. A good professional and the type of player I imagine any club is happy to have in their side provided he's on modest wages.

Re: RUMOUR - Michail Antonio to Sheffield Wednesday

Forest are in need of a winger. Perhaps RFC can get a bidding war started for Antonio's services.

Re: Michail Antonio

I hope he gets a year on loan with you in the championship and tears the league apart. It would be a bonus if we stay up and he becomes Kebe's heir on the right after we sell Kebe for silly money to fund expansion of the stadium.

Re: Back from the game: Millwall

No kidding. Living in Chicago, I depend on the sum of the thoughtful analyses and player ratings from all the hobnobbers who can attend matches to give me an accurate impression of the team's performance. Reports in the papers are useless by comparison.

Championship strikers must be licking their chops after seeing the footage of Morrison being beaten for Eastleigh's second.

Re: Gylfi is leaving Reading

I'm not disappointed that Gylfi will be sold; I always knew he would. I guess I'm just a little disappointed that it looks like it will be Hoffenheim. Don't get me wrong, Hoffenheim is a good club and the Bundesliga is a big deal, but I feel like the club and Gylfi (and JM) could do better. It wasn'...

Re: Back From the Game - Pompey

Based on Saturday's performance, I wouldn't have minded if we had picked up Sonko as cover. He was free if I'm not mistaken and his wages at Portsmouth must be within JM's modest means.

Re: Shaun Long

Saw the highlights of the match. Positive: Long scored twice. Negative: He missed two or three golden opportunities. Positive: He looks fit and quick enough to get into position for those opportunities. He's getting goals, he's gaining in confidence, and I think he's going to start putting more of t...

Re: Reading vs. Scunny MATCH THREAD - Sponsored by Bounce Back

The Convey goal was also a one off Watch the same video and see excellent pass and move for the goal Convey scores against Hull. You can not argue that all of them are "a one off", it was our style of play to counter attack, and it was VERY effective! And the goal Convey scored against No...

Re: Brian Howard

Does Rodgers still have no idea who his best team is or is he so convinced of his own "special"ness that he needs to show off his genius by constantly making changes to the team?
