Re: kebe celebration

Yeah, good on you Jimmy - that was your 4th or 5th goal in 70-odd appearances in 2 years and you give it the big'un, come back and do that when you aren't flattering to deceive . Exceptionally cool finish, but then we saw progressively less of him over the next 63 minutes and 50 seconds as us...

Re: Soccer - the way forward.

West_Reading So you're saying, squads are usually 11 in size? Hence the 10% saving? Or are you saying that dropping one from the starting line up will mean you can release half of your squad?

Ah! Wouldn't that give a 50% decrease? :D

A term used in the USA, where all the screwy ideas for "inproving" the game come from.

Soccer - the way forward.

I don't know if it struck anyone else yesterday what a fast open game it was when both teams wewnt down to 10 men. Albeit McDermott contributed to the spectacle by keeping two strikers on the pitch. Think about it! The ten-man set-up could be the way forward for the beautiful game. Not to mention th...

Re: Scapegoat of the week!

The boy covered every blade of grass yesterday, his work-rate was extremely high. He tackled hard and often and you could see he frequently hurt himself in the process. And in my view it was no surprise that the (undeserved) equaliser was scored after he was replaced. He's young, he's already being ...

Re: Oh no - Lawro's backed us!

That's it - we're doomed to defeat on Saturday.... READING v WEST BROM I'm going to go for Reading based on their form in the Cup - they knocked out Burnley and, of course, Liverpool. Defeat for West Brom would not be the end of the world as they are very much in pole position along with Newcastle ...

At least it's non-sectarian, tartan-army-boys. Beats billie-boys.

Re: Brendan's moaning again!

The Sun says. "On the day he was sacked, Reading were level on points with Ipswich, who had given Keane £10m to spend." Brandan says, (as he takes some credit) "the team's 1-1 draw with Liverpool at the weekend showed you the team's potential. It is consistency which the team now need...

Re: Mr Hammond, is our selection process flawed?

Nicky Hammond was really keen on Irvine, I must confess that I thought he was a good choice, but the sacking taints him now I suppose. Same with Ferguson.
IIRC Peter Taylor was high on the Club's wish list when Pardue left.

Certainly is an insecure job - football management.

Re: The despair thread

It's not like they didn't have plenty of notice. Coppell resigned in May and the new set-up had a generous time during pre-season, anything they do now will be knee-jerk at best.

A rookie manager with a rookie squad was always a risky combination.
