Re: Sunderland Match Thread sponsored by Danny Guthrie's tea

_royal Defence can't cope with the basics.
Midfield are geting outmuscled and outpassed.
Attackers have no idea what to do with themselves.

Re: Updated POLL After Southampton Debacle.

Conflicting arguments in my head! With my head... We have the worst squad in the Prem by a country mile, we've just lost to a side who spent £27 million and sit above a side who have spent much, much more. Yes some of the tactical decisions seem a bit weird (but then his options from the bench aren'...

Re: What will Brian say in the press conference?

Reading manager Brian McDermott: "In the first half we had an opportunity and we hit the post. If we had gone a goal ahead then that would've been very important but that didn't happen. "We've had a very disappointing day but we have to pick ourselves up quickly. We weren't solid enough a...

I've had enough, I'm off to take a role in the West End production of The Adams Family.

They spent £27 million on players - no wonder they're doing so well in the league! Oh!!

Re: Team for Villa

Against the pace of Villa it would be suicide to go with our current center back pairing. That said I'm not certain what Pearce would add!

Re: Attacking midfielders?

very few, if any sides in the prem play 4-4-2 with two traditional wingers. if you accept that at the moment our squad and our general play is best suited to this formation, then we simply won't play with an attacking midfielder, it would leave us too exposded. We've tried Marek, Howard and Guthrie...

Re: Attacking midfielders?

Sidwell used mix it upfield and take a chance on goal....even Harps (when you pointed him in the right direction) scored a few True, though they were "traditional" midfielders - able to get forward but also defend. I guess the point I was trying to make is that we, as a team, seem unable ...

He was hardly a flair / creative midfield player and unlike all of those mentioned above (for all his faults) he could tackle!

Attacking midfielders?

As a club (with the exception of Gylfi) when was the last time that we had an attacking central midfield who fitted into our "system". It seems to me that all of our best players over the last decade have been wingers (Little, Salako, Convey, Kebe, McAnuff). Is the Guthrie, Matějovský, How...

Re: RUMOUR - Bertrand, Clyne and Zaha

Um, if he keeps us in the Prem and unlocks far more than 8M next season in TV money - YES! You don't half speak some tosh. Since when did scoring goals become our problem? All this cr@p about this striker or that winger or some other attacking midfield option (didn't work with Marek or any of the o...

Re: RUMOUR - Carlton Cole

RFC are currently being attached to so many potential transfers that 5m for CC does not seem to be a goer. We are looking at wingers if the rumours are correct and, should we wish for a forward, Rhodes, over a 4-year contract, would cost less than Cole! Is that based on any knowledge or just the ne...
