Re: Away Support

As a veteran of travelling away with RFC in the late 70s early 80s I can't believe how large and vociferous our away followings are now. Remember travelling to places like Rochdale and Hartlepool and barely seeing another Reading fan in the ground. It's all relative of course, we had smaller crowds ...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Hull City (a)

Really think we ought to get Mbengue tied down as he’s got heaps of potential.

Re: MATCHWATCH : Watford (a)

That’s the poorest game I’ve seen Tince have this season. Difficult to see where goals are coming from.

Impressed with Mbengue so far tonight. Looks good at centre back, not so at right back.

Re: BFTG - Preston

Having watched the highlights back does anyone else think Lumley should have done better on the 2nd goal? He moves far too close to the near post before Evans shoots and gives too much of the goal to aim at. Feel if he stayed central he would have saved it. If he’d made the right decision yes, but ...

Re: BFTG - Preston

Disappointing performance really. There seems to be a conundrum with selection up front. Do we go for the battering ram approach of Carroll and Meite or the more ground-based and subtle approach of Joao and Long. Last night Ince opted for the battering ram. Before the game that must have seemed a de...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Burnley (a)

Similar but better possession based side to Swansea, if we sit deep again we will get murdered. very impressed with them last night. They did look very good but you can see why they've drawn eight games. For all their possession and good pass and move last night they created very few, if any, clear...

Re: BTFG - Bristol City

Andy Carroll is already a legend at Reading in my book. He went out of his way to shake the hands of the Royals mascots pre-match as he went back to the dressing room, and at halftime was pleased to celebrate with the kicking competition winner. Not many players would do that. Yes, pleasantly surpr...

Norfolk Royal Did they get Loum’s name right on SSN screen. Seemed like it had about 20 letters in it.

Mamadou Loum N'Diaye.

They squashed all the letters together as they wouldn’t fit on the screen.

Jackson Corner My all time favourite was Russel Kempson, I don’t know where he was from but he became a Reading fan and left for the Times. He would often mention us in his pieces I remember a particular scathing piece about Alan Pardew going to West Ham.

Re: Rumour - Macaulay Langstaff

Long, Doyle, Kitson. Lower league players can do well. I like these sorts of gambles. The thing is if you take a player who gets a decent amount in a lower league, like 15-20 a season then they might be good in a higher league, they might not. Kitson btw I think fell into this category. 'Only' 40 g...

Re: Ince & Ince appreciation thread.

Since Ince took over as manager I keep seeing him pop up all over the place in various social media or TV feeds, most recently on BBC's Ladhood. Here's one which might inform on his interview style, which I like. You can see him in the clip halfway through whispering conspiratorially to Paul Merson....

Re: BFTG - Norwich

For a game with so few chances I quite enjoyed that tbf. Norwich looked great on the ball, but our back 3 were absolutely immense. I think if we'd had Yiadom overlapping Hoilett we'd have been a couple up in the first half, because Hoilett was class. Midfield was half decent, and Carroll and Ince t...

Re: Opposition fans back from the game

Compare that to Bournemouth, Fulham, Nottingham Forest, West Brom, Sheffield United. All clubs of similar stature. Forest have spent £120m this summer. Sheffield United had a nett spend in the region of £120m over 2 seasons in the Premier League. I'm not making any point over the relative spends of...

Re: Opposition fans back from the game

Yep, the ones on my bus back to town were pretty pragmatic and happy with a point. Were quite impressed by our performance too Not sure that’s correct. Their record signing they made before this season, Sara, who didn’t play last night, was £12 million and Nunez who was substituted last night, was ...
