Re: Chelsea/Everton away in cup

I think there is a strong possibility that if it is Chelsea, due to their fixture congestion, this game could end up being played at the weekend!! It looks to me as though it could be played the weekend of the 6th Round (quarter finals) - which is the 12th/13th March. The only other time I can see i...

Re: Coppell does it again!

GOD!! This is what happens when you use a term from an old satirical cartoon in the old Heaven Eleven cartoon!! "Hapless Hammond" and it causes outrage. The Whiff was always better.

Re: Coppell does it again!

I think you mis-read my question, so I'll rephrase it for you. I was asking in what way was a manager that hasn't really been involved in transfers, the background administration and boardroom level running of a football club for many years, if ever, more qualified than a man that's been doing just...

Re: Coppell does it again!

To be fair Silver Fox I don't think the term "hapless" is the worst insult in the footballing world.....unlike say, calling someone an embarressment?! I have not switched my view either. Hapless - meaning unfortunate at times, unlucky, hasn't had the rub of the green. This, I feel, at time...

Re: Coppell does it again!

Stranded - in my view, it is the club manager's role to find and suggest players and then to keep them happy and playing well once they arrive. It would be the director of football's role to negotiate those deals (given his orders from above) and keep those players on reasonable contracts. Would tha...

Re: Coppell does it again!

What I am saying is that there are many more important people than him in the cogs of RFC that have made us successful. I, personally, would rather see a more experienced, knowledgable and qualified man dealing with our transfers an contracts in a hugely respected Steve Coppell. But thanks for your...

Re: Coppell does it again!

As my mate pointed out - the last thing he did in football management was to give us £500k for Cisse. Well done agent Coppell!! He says he still wants " a role in football"..........maybe coming home and taking over as director of football from Hapless Hammond??!! The same Hapless Hammond...

Re: Zurab told to find new club

I agree Andrew. I think McDermott is very shrewed and probably has a few options lined up knowing Zurab is a possibility. My only thought was that sitting out a season at Blackburn on £15k a week but no first team football might leave him a very unattractive option next year therefore possibly no cl...

Re: Zurab told to find new club

Good shout scarface! It does seem odd that Blackburn are touting him so openly and with only three centre backs we aren't taking the bait. You have to presume that Blackburn are desperate to get rid of his wages (£15k at a complete guess) and we cannot offer more than say £7.5k (again, at a complete...

Re: Zurab told to find new club

Surely we need another centre back and surely this makes it worth giving Zurab an offer that WE can afford. Blackburn certainly don't want him

Re: FA Cup 5th Round - who do you want?

When was the last time we made the QUARTER FINALS THOUGH?!?! It was definitely before 1998 and after 1927 (Semi finals) - can't find it anywhere though.

Say it quietly - Two wins from Wembley!!

Re: FA Cup 5th Round - who do you want?

I know I put this elsewhere, but fits better here!! Notts County at home would be nice. Football trivia question for somebody knowledgable; I know we last reached the fifth round in 2007 and before that 1998 but we lost in both. Obviously our best every performance was in 1927 when we got to the Sem...

Re: FAO Sir Steve

Why would you want a manager that ruined 4 years of great work, in 2 transfer windows, by sticking loyal and completely mis-judging his group of players. What then made it worse, is in January when all his mistakes were highlighted in black and white, he yet again failed to do anything. This man lo...
