Re: Pearce and Gorkss

When Rodgers became manager he was paired with o dea mills and another he was never settled. This year with gorkss he is settled and is learning every game He was also lumbered with being made captain when he wasn't ready for it. Hope SJM isn't eyeing him to sell to fill the eternal £5 black hole a...

Re: 3 words

We're not good enough for promotion, Friday highlighted this big time. We peaked slightly too early and are missing Kebe and Shane Long in form. Longs carrying an injury I fear. In terms of being good enough - well they are by far our best two players. Not many teams in this league are good enough ...

Re: Graham Kemp

Huntley & Palmers played in the Southern League didn't they? Do we know much else about their history? Where did they play etc.? They were in the Spartan League when I was around. It was a good quality amateur league taking clubs from as far off as Essex if I remember right. The ground was on K...

Thought this, but then again its who the TEAM has helped dispose of.

Surely Rodgers is the obvious one that the TEAM helped dispose of.

Re: Is our academy really shining now?

Jonathan Hayes Looked to be going places but very quickly faded and went onto Leicester and then Cheltenham and now?. Now with Inverness Caley and has played a big part in their run of 19 games unbeaten to win promotion. Saw him play on Saturday and he's a credit to our academy. His manager Terry B...

Re: Anyone Remember When...

we played 3 games over Easter? Good Friday, Easter Saturday and Easter Monday? And only able to name 1 sub? None of this 7 subs bollix? I remember 3 Easter games in the days of NO subs. Vague recollections of a Good Friday match against Northampton - think Freddie Fisher scored for us but no idea o...

Re: Oldest living Reading players?

A certain Les Goldberg (no mention of the name Gaunt) made appearances for Leeds Utd 1946/47, but he is described as a "pre-war" player. Perhaps he changed his name to the more Anglicised Gaunt when he moved south. No, nothing to do with the move. I remember him here as Goldberg before th...

SWLR Reading take 3-0 lead.

Final Score 3-4. At long last revenge for 85/86 season.

Revenge for 85/6? I'm still looking for revenge for them pipping us for promotion from 3rd(S) in 52 or thereabouts and leaving a sad boyhood memory.

On the plus side, historically RFC do fare better in teh second halkf of the season.

Depends how far you want to go back in history I suppose, but the modern history of the past 2 seasons doesn't give me much cause for optimism.

And there's his awful carcophonous music. Bring back the tuneful brass bands of my childhood. Even the annual visit of the Dagenham Girl Pipers didn't put me off spending nearly 50 years (so far) of my adulthood and dotage in Scotland.

Re: Are you happy with the current state of RFC?

We are only going to get better, on paper we have a team that is too good to go down, and there are a number of talented youngsters coming through, learning through experience. Football history is littered with relegated clubs that were too good to go down. We could well be next -that's assuming ou...
