Re: Portsmouth Admin

Oh what a surprise, wish I could say this is a total shock  When's the appeal going to be heard? If its tomorrow by the same judge what's the point? I would guess that tomorrow's hearing would be on whether HMRC have permission to appeal to the court of appeal, rather than being a full blown ...

Re: Barnet FC

theres a boozer called the old red lion on the corner of the ground, just down from the tube, iirc The Old Red Lion pub - gr8 McMullen beers on tap. Really good pub. Maquisard - you're thinking of the old Bald Faced Stag. The new one, as of the last couple of years, is a revamped real ale pub. It i...

Re: Emile Heskey tribute thread

Never really good enough and the inability of successive England managers to look beyond him "doing a job" has held us back.

At fault (along with Beckham) for the 2004 defeat to France.

Re: So cheats do prosper.....

In appreciating the performances of football teams, I don't think that hindsight, or a view of history, helps. We tend to primarily remember the good bits (so, no, highlights don't give a good picture of a game). We've now seen this Spain side over two tournaments. In this tournament they've defeate...

Re: So cheats do prosper.....

I think they're that good. Nowhere near as good as they were 2 years ago. Without Torres they are much worse. Well done to them but I don't think they're as good as some of the classic sides, like Brazil 1970, Holland or Germany in 74 or even the exciting French side of Platini and Giress. Still th...

Re: So cheats do prosper.....

In the context of the match, picking on Spanish transgressions is somewhat like complaining about Mandela's activities in Apartheid South Africa.

The great thing about bringing these academy players through is that they'll treat every first team game as a cup final.

Re: Next Seasons Kit

Has anyone ever heard of them holding a focus group or anything like that on the kit? Can't recall if the kit was on the agenda but there have definitely been focus groups held by the club about various things in the past. I think some fan input on the kit would be a good idea, but also suspect tha...

Re: Germany v Spain [Official Thread]

Thought Germany were disappointing with Schweinsteiger playing so deep . Spain deserved it with their superb passing..but as a spectacle it was only so so he-s been doing that all tournament. He played in a more advanced position against Argentina. He barely managed to get beyond the half-way line ...

Re: Germany v Spain [Official Thread]

Spain were excellent. Germany had been the team of the tournament and they barely got a sniff. I don't really like Spain and was hoping the Germans would win, but the almost complete control the Spanish had during the second half was awesome. If you don't find that entertaining, I'm not really sure...

Would like Holland to win, but it's hard to see beyond Spain scoring the single goal of the game between 60 and 75 minutes.
