Royston Drenthe

Was on a season-long loan deal at Everton last season. Contract with Madrid expired in the summer. Everton didn't keep him on, mainly due to re-signing Pienaar permanently (and possibly a few disciplinary issues). Currently a free agent. Would be worth a punt I reckon on a deal until the end of the ...

Re: Team to beat Arsenal

I think the strength of 442 for us over the years has clouded McD's judgement. Our midfield is nowhere near good enough to enable us to play just two in the middle and be so open. It was ok at Championship level where we were happy to give up possession for the whole game as our defence and central ...

Madjid Bougherra

Currently playing in the Qatari league. I was always a big fan of his when he was at Rangers. A real big, powerful, bully of a CB, sort of in the Bikey mode. Slightly less mental. 30 years old. Should be at his peak as a CB.

Re: RUMOUR: Roman Pavlyuchenko

LOL@ Anyone who thinks Pavlyuchenko wouldn't be good enough for us. Absolutely quality footballer. Our priority should be some ball playing central midfielders, or at least some really mobile beasts like Palacios.

Re: Back From The Game. Southampton Away

You know (and the Howard haters are going to shoot me down in flames here) there was a period of time when McDermott would bring on Brian Howard as a plan B if Plan A wasn't going to plan and, more often than not it worked. I think of Hull away Christmas 2010 in particular, under pressure for 60-od...

Re: Anton

What are we looking for. Too much waffle. Although Anton's dad looking like Brian Mac may be good news for McD.

Re: Sunderland (A) - Who do you WANT to start?

The problem isn't just the personnel but the style of play. Until we can get the ball down consistently and have players who aren't afraid on the ball, we won't improve.

Prem experienced players out of favour?

If we're to make any moves in January, it has to be players who are proven at this level but are out of favour for whatever reason at the moment. A few names that catch my eye are Wilson Palacios and Jermaine Jenas. Both would give much needed athleticism and drive in the middle of the park. Martin ...

Re: Back From The Game. Southampton Away

I expected to struggle but didn't expect our two "star buys"(Pog & Guthrie) to be kept out of the squad or Gorks to fall apart or Pearce to be dropped or our new LB upgrade to appear not quite good enough or Roberts to start injured and not look quite so keen any more or last year's e...

Re: Back From The Game. Southampton Away

My fourth away game of the season and performances have got gradually worse since that promising start at Stamford Bridge. Yesterday was on a par with Villa, it was throughly miserable. What has really annoyed me over these last couple of games is McD's reluctance to use Guthrie, despite us being co...

Re: Back from the match / Pub / Lounge (Villa)

We actually played better than we did against Everton. We could have easily been 4-0 down against Everton at half-time and had a couple of penalty scares. After the Everton match, however, you didn't hear many fans complaining. Last night, we were very unlucky to lose. Had Alf had his shooting boot...

Lacoste Much better to sit there like the Madejski robots clapping politly with a lunchbox and a cardboard royals crown.

Yes cos that's the only two options available to fans, boo your own team or tuck into some prawn sandwiches.

Re: Back from the match / Pub / Lounge (Villa)

And as a final point, to the "fans" who booed the team off at half time who were sat a few rows behind me last night, I hope you're happy the boys got the result you were obviously so keen to see.  What's wrong with fans booing an inept performance once AGAIN ? We were 0-0 at...

Re: Saints view of last nights game

Jesus, nobody said he's not good enough, just that he was a bit off the pace on Fri night. No need to have another stat spaz Exactly. At half time I was saying to my mate that Tabb had to go off. He just wasn't getting close enough to the Saints midfield and also produced nothing on the ball. I was...

Re: Back from the game (or Watching Sky)

I can't remember who passed it but the pass to kebe for him to cross for Roberts was badly over hit I don't think any of our players would of caught up with that apart from Kebe. If he hadn't of got hold of that it could of been a different game. I know a lot of could of's but I just remember it an...

Back from the game - Ipswich (H)

A pretty dull first half, probably the worst I've seen this season (In about 9 home games). We stepped it up in the second half and just about deserved a 1-0 win. Ipswich had no real chances of note, although Emmanuel-Thomas (Looked good throughout) had a rocket shot which clipped the bar in the fir...

Allardyce's post match comments...

Just listening to them on BBC Sport. He was asked about Kebe pulling his socks up which led to the WHU players reacting. Said something along the lines of 'If that's how they want to play then that's how they want to play, like most teams, it's like they've won their biggest game of the season when ...

Re: back from the game- cardiff

We're definitely creating enough chances. Not all of them are gilt-edged but we're certainly effective at working the ball to in and around the box to get into shooting positions.

Re: back from the game- cardiff

Third game I've been to this year, glad I didn't renew... Are the players told to hoof the ball forward as quickly as possible by McDermott and the coaches? Dreadful ball retention, no creativity in midfield and a real lack of quality across the team which will happen when your chairman strips the ...
