THIS WEEK'S PREDICTIONS
SATURDAY (All kick-offs 1500 BST unless specified)

Charlton v Portsmouth
(1245 BST)

Credit where credit's due for Portsmouth. They're up there because they'be been playing pretty well under Harry Redknapp.

However, I did think they were a bit lucky against Wigan last week. Charlton should be able to manage a point.

Match preview
Prediction: 1-1

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Bolton v Middlesbrough

This is an interesting one. I think Bolton will take the scalp of Boro.

Watford were a tough proposition for them last week, but I don't reckon Sam Allardyce's men will make hard work of this weekend's visitors.

Match preview
Prediction: 2-0

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Everton v Wigan

Everton have been playing some great football of late and Andy Johnson has been a revelation for them.

I think Wigan were unlucky not to get anything from Newcastle and Portsmouth and they may just miss out again at Goodison.

Match preview
Prediction: 2-1

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Sheffield United v Reading

I suppose it would be fair to say this is a battle between two of the relegation favourites.

The Blades know that they have to win these sort of matches and I think they'll sneak it.

Match preview
Prediction: 2-1

so, he was right last week, will he be again?

Why does Lowro get his own threads? He's a fool who knows nothing so who cares what he predicts?

I don't care what Lawro says. He needs a rocket up his ar*e. Talk about laid back and boring.

He makes me look happy, optimistic and full of life.

This man has to be the biggest Cock of all time. His condescending, smug, arrogant, ignorant comments really wind me up and I totally fail to see how he has managed to crawl his way into the BBC and get a job as a top football pundit let alone his own slot on the Web.

I wonder if he's ever researched anything about Reading at all. At least Lineker and Hansen are warming to the contribution and value that Royals are going to add to the Premiership this season instead of boring old Chelsea, Liverpool or Arsenal.

Lawro says "The Blades know that they have to win these sort of matches ".

So Coppell doesn't. What a tool.

Maybe I'm being generous to Lawro, but I read that as meaning that we are more likely to pick up points elsewhere than the Blades, so it's not as much of a 'must win' for us as it is for them.

Why the criticism of someone because he predicts a Reading loss?

this is a must win for us, we dont know where we'll be after our next tough run, so best to open the gap now just in case. I think it is still fair to say this is a six pointer, we havent proved otherwise yet

cmonurz Why the criticism of someone because he predicts a Reading loss?

Because Lawrenson seems to be completely ignorant. If you look at the past history, it's not always likely that Reading will lose. Just look at these:

2005/2006
Football League Championship Sheffield United 1-1 Reading 14-02-2006
English League Cup Reading 2-0 Sheffield United 25-10-2005
Football League Championship Reading 2-1 Sheffield United 01-10-2005
2004/2005
Football League Championship Reading 0-0 Sheffield United 02-04-2005
Football League Championship Sheffield United 0-1 Reading 14-08-2004
2003/2004
Football League Championship Reading 2-1 Sheffield United 28-02-2004
Football League Championship Sheffield United 1-2 Reading 24-10-2003
2002/2003
Football League Championship Sheffield United 1-3 Reading 18-02-2003
Football League Championship Reading 0-2 Sheffield United 14-12-2002

So, it looks like Sheff Utd have not beaten us since December 2002. So, past history suggests that we might get something from Brammell Lane.

lawro dosen't know squat about football, if he knew as much as he pretends he dose he would be a manager not some hack who gets off on predicting the results which the bookies give the shortest odds to.

"so mark who do you think this weeks winners will be?"
"hold on a merment there gary, i just need to look it up at the ladbroks website"

Another thing I do not like about what Lawrenson has wrote is this

Mark Lawrenson I suppose it would be fair to say this is a battle between two of the relegation favourites.

Excuse me?!?! Is it nearly Easter already? Assuming that this is a relegation battle at this stage in the season is being a twat of the highest order.

So United and Chelsea aren't title favourites?

agreed, if we are relegation favourites, logic dictates this is a relegation battle.

What Lawrenson said there is factuallly coorect. Just look at the bookies odds for relegation and you will indeed see that Reading and Sheffield United are two of the favourites for the drop.

Surely relegation battles don't happen until the near of the end of the season? Arsenal are down there at the moment with two points, but you don't see anyone saying that they're in a relegation battle, while we are in the 8th spot.

Releagtion battle and relegation favourites are not the same thing.

Lawrenson said it was a battle between two of the favourites for relegation, not that it was a relegation battle.
