Kevin Doyle knows who to thank for his remarkable rise to international and Premiership prominence over the past few months

Kevin Doyle readily admits he has never faced such pressure in his young life. Four days after failing with a penalty against Darlington, he had another spot-kick, this time against Manchester United, to put Reading ahead in only their sixth Premiership game.
When Gary Neville was penalised for handling the ball, Doyle, knowing Reading had no designated penalty taker, grabbed it. Then he thought: “Do I really want to take this?â€
