reading better than italy??

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reading_F.C.

In 1913 Reading toured Italy and beat Pro Vercelli, the Italian champions, AC Milan 5-0 and then the full Italian national team, prompting the leading sports newspaper Corriere della Sera wrote "without doubt, Reading FC are the finest foreign team seen in Italy." Reading finished the tour with a 2-0 victory over the Italy national team

says it all..

Whilst I love this story it should be mentioned that this was the period when West Auckland (still non-league, I beleive) managed to become the first world club champions beating Juventus, amongst others, along the way in a Lipton Tea sponsored tournament in Turin.
Oh, and Exeter City were exhilarating the crowds in Rio and Sao Paolo.

This may have been done to death but it's always a nice reminder! Thrashed AC Milan and beat the national side.

Hopefully we'll get a 5-0 lead this season and can all sing "Are you AC Milan in disguise" at some puzzled opposition team.
