Interview on Gillette Soccer Saturday....... same old crap about his contract.

The panel think he's a oxf*rd for thinking he's better than he is and not signing a new contract as he is a regular in a mid table team and isn't good enough to play week in week out every game at a big club.

Couldn't agree more.

Peter Reid said all the signs pointed to the fact that Sidwell has been 'tapped' up by another club.

Merson suggested his agent was at work - anyone know who the snivelling parasite is?

Shame Sidwell doesn't appear to have the sense to listen to some experts from within the game rather than greedy self-interested b*stards from outside.

I now feel the club are in a position of strength now whereby they have the credibility and respect to attract a suitable Sidwell replacement from another Premiership club, perhaps even a player of a higher standard than Sidewell.

I've got a feeling he will chase the money because that's the advice he has been given but that he will live to regret any move.

He should look at Parky as a prime example of what happens when greed takes over. Still, we'll give him a wave on MOTD next season.

He might as well join Norwich. No point going to Middlesbrough, with Southgate in charge they will be near the bottom.

Or he could look at Pardew, who has just pocketed millions for doing sod all.

Will West Ham now come calling, IMHO they will, whoever makes an approach I hope that we drive a hard bargain, am not keen on Sidders for his greed, but can understand it in todays game, we could have Harewood and AN Other in P Ex.

we're in no position with Sidders to bargain, at the moment he holds all the aces

if we don't let him go in january and he wants to go, then he'll just leave the club in the summer on a free,

i hope he does sign a new contract because he's shown he's been a top performer this season, he has never stated he wants to leave Reading, just wants to get pad what he feels he deserves, and as Murts said, we need to 'pull up trees' to keep him

Of course we are in a position to bargain, leaving in Jan on an extra 10k a week will add a lot to Sidders bank balance, also if other clubs want him then do they pay us to have him for sure or do they wait till the summer, and risk relegation without him?

Football is not all B/W, what for example if he gets injured while with us, brioken leg and no one will take him in summer.

We have to gamble and hold firm with Sidwell. Better he goes for sod all come the summer than disrupt the team at this crucial point. Sidwell goes for nothing or we let him go and risk relegation. Now how much is the money for Premiership clubs next season?

How very black and white you see things. It's a lot more complicated than that, and Siidwell is not the only one potentially in the market - he's just the only one honest (or naive) enough to have gone public.

I agree but to be the only one in our team to come out and say it i think proves he wants money than anyone else here.

As a point of interest, here's a bit extra on his handywork after a quick search...

Eric Walters - Licensed Players' Agent
Eric played for three years with Watford and Leyton Orient before leaving to work on "the other side". He worked for nine years in the industry before joining the team at Base, bringing with him his network of contacts and keen eye for spotting young talent.

http://www.basesoccer.com/ourteam.htm

Jon Ostemobor: However, it now appears that any explanation is far from reasonable. Otsemobor's agent, Eric Walters, made a poor attempt at playing down Otsemobor's absence. Walters claimed his client didn't know that pre-season training began now.

http://www.crewe.vitalfootball.co.uk/article.asp?a=21281

Jay Bothroyd: "It did come as a real surprise," the striker recalls. "When my agent, Eric Walters, asked if I wanted to go to Italy, my first response was: ‘What, on holiday?’ Perugia invited me over to take a look around and have a trial. I enjoyed it - everyone made me feel welcome. I played for them a few times, and that clinched it."

http://scotlandonsunday.scotsman.com/football.cfm?id=1128182003

Rohan Ricketts: Rohan Ricketts has signed a new 18-month contract extension at Tottenham.

Ricketts said: "This is a very proud moment and it's the icing on the cake really after what has already been an amazing season so far for me at Spurs.

http://tottenhamhotspur.rivals.net/default.asp?sid=897&p=2&stid=8332319

General Agent Article: It can be a dog’s life. During the last hours of the transfer window, Eric Walters, an agent with Base Soccer, found himself at the home of the Charlton Athletic secretary. The clock was ticking. The club had rung that week saying they wanted a striker. Walters knew that Jay Bothroyd was available and so, with hours to spare, they signed the deal.

The story debunks the myth that clubs wage a constant battle with agents.

http://www.timesonline.co.uk/article/0,,27-1765675,00.html

Darius Henderson: Even being given his professional contract was merely a milepost on a
rocky road, but his parents, Anne and Neil, and agent, Eric Walters at
Base Soccer, knew his determination was special. There were loan
spells at Brighton and Hove Albion and Swindon Town, and then, last
summer, he moved from Gillingham to Watford, finding a kindred spirit
in Adrian Boothroyd.

Obviously, they're not all recent articles.
