Given we now play after the draw for the 4th round .......

by Patch » 06 Jan 2007 17:59

.... could this influence Copple's selection for Tuesday night?

If you think about it, lets say that Man U and Chelsea are drawn against each other and Aresenal (if they beat Liverpool) are drawn against Newcastle and Reading or Burnley have Hull or some other lower league team.

The winning fees for Tuesday are 40K, fourth Round is 60K and 5th round 120K if all but two of the big clubs are out by round five we have a reasonable chance of picking up 220K, with TV fees for the two following rounds representing a further 500K we could make 3/4 of a million form games we may expect to win

surely such a proposition should see a "better" team line up on Tuesday

I thought the team today was still strong, certainly stronger than the teams that took us into R5 last season IMHO.

Reaching R5/6 is worth a lot more than that at £20 a seat as well to add on

Given the huge figures being mentioned for the tv deal next season i dont think it will make any difference at all to his selection.

Added to that the fact that staying in the Prem is of more importance than a cup run I reckon.

No, Sir Steve is not for turning and rightly so. Premiership safety (guaranteed) is what counts most.

Some of us are old enough to remember when we last won a trophy (OK only the Simod cup but still a big deal to us at the time). The feeling of euphoria had long since worn off when we were 'enjoying' games in a lower division!

The OS
The boss had obviously named his team for the game, with Bobby Convey set to start and Dave Kitson on the bench, while young Alex Pearce was also among the subs.

Coppell is likely to name a very similar 16 for the rearranged game this coming Tuesday, saying, "Not a great deal will change. There might be one or two first teamers back."

And there again there might not.

Coppell in thinly veiled ticket promo shocker.

We should field our best team. Fielding a second string team is demoralizing and fatalistic. Afterall, how many FA cups have we won?

Agreed, I was pleasantly surprised. I'd have been very confident of victory today.

Our squad players have very little to aspire to.....many have no chance of featuring this season

However. we want them to step in. and "do a job"

SIR STEVE is looking forward to another season in the Prem

Given the apparent low attendance today, I estimate <10k, I can see a rush for refunds if we get a crap draw on Monday.

The team will stay unchanged, although Convey, Kitson and Murty would all have a better chance of playing a bigger part in the games! Coppell will want to keep everything similar, because of the ways players prepared for today's game. I'm sure he'll tell the players to not watch the draw, and he wont either, meaning his selections wont be influenced in any way!

Coppell sees these games as a way to keep his players match fit. i'm pretty sure if Gunnar was fit, he would play Bikey at centre back instead of Ivar. For Coppell, the F.A. Cup is a way of keeping his players sharp and match fresh
