Pretty sure it was the summer of 1996 but don't know the exact date.

I remember missing the Reading goal right at the start of the 2nd half because my mates couldn't sort out their bloody coffee I was carrying.
Then, whilst telling them that I missed the goal because they were sodding about, I missed the Chelski goal!

I recall Reading lost 1-0 to a moment of Zola magic. Primus (I think) headed in when it was 0-0 but it was ruled out as the linesman flagged that the ball had gone out before we crossed it in.

The game was memorable for the chant "Bodin skinned Vialli". As for lineups, my programme is in England unfortunately.

I remember the song as "you got done by Bodin", but it was a long time ago and I'm happy to be corrected.

It's the only thing I (incorrectly) remember from that game.

Summer of 97, first game Bullivant was in charge for. Remember Andy Freeman playing. Caskey opened the scoring with a volley after the keeper had missed a cross, Zola replied immediately and then skinned Bernal before firing in the second. Don't remember exact lineups, but Primus wouldn't have played because he hadn't signed by then. I remember Primus and Hodges signing either at half time or just before the Southampton pre-season friendly (1-0 Reading, Meaker scoring) a few days after the Chelsea match. For the record, we played Bournemouth in between those matches. 1-1 draw, Roach scoring.

IIRC we sang both. The scoreline 2-1 sticks in my mind, but that may just be the fog of time taking over.

Or are you talking about Chalky White's testimonial match?

Players for Chelsea included Kerry Dixon

Or perhaps the 3-1 1987 Littlewoods Cup match 1st Leg.

Scorcher from M Hicks.

I remember this as I was dragged into the Chelsea end by all of my Chelsea supporting mates.
I remember shouting "yesssss" whilst jumping up and down after we scored. I also remember my mates getting rather embarrased as they shut me up and reminded me where I was. Oops

ITV broadcast that game on Midweek Sport Special and built a fukking commentary tower smack bang in the middle of the Southbank severely obstructing pretty much everyone's view. Anyone else remember it?

I was therefore forced to stand n the right side of the 'Bank, at the front squashed up against the fences. Not only that, shortly after Hicksy's thunderbolt, Chelsea fans decided to jump over the wall into the Southbank - it was utter chaos. Missed the rest of the game.
