I remember reading somewhere that in ye oldie Elm Park days Reading tried to sell a player and then realised he was only on loan to them from Arsenal or somewhere

Uncle Andy Best:

David Lee
Jim Leighton
Matt Upson
Steve Mautone (Unfortunately only when he was on loan)
Steve Morrow

Worst:

The legend that is Nigel Vaughan

I also think that Steve Archibald was unatached in his one appearance (vs Huddersfield Town, 1-0 Senior) rather than on loan

Steve Morrow is now managing Boston in the MLS - hoping to sign Eddie Davids from Spurs

Sam Jennings, back in mid twenties. Was with us on loan from Middlesbrough for over 3 years. West Ham tried to sign him from us, even agreed a fee (c £1,000?), before the FA stepped in to inform all and sundry he was actually a Borough registered player.

Longest loan period on record??

Tony Witter - broke his leg in his (only?) match vs Wrexham, carried on playing.
