Looks like I'll have to add TV Ants to my collection of pirate software.

Be careful. I am convinced that I got a virus when I installed TVAnts

Got it working but it's very stop start. I read somewhere that the more people that use it, the better it will get, although I would have thought the opposite true.

Has anyone found anywhere else to watch it? It's really not working for me.

There's a rather cryptic remark along those lines on myp2p. I think the guys who run it are Dutch, and as good their English is, it gets mysterious when they move in to the realm of technology.

It really is poo today isn't it?

Don't want to give up because it should be better the more people watch.

Because its peer 2 peer, what happens is bits of video which are loaded onto your PC are then able to be watched by others. One person watching allows 2 more to watch, which then means that another 4 can watch, then 8 etc.
The more watchers the more "servers". Thats why its always 5-10 minutes behind.

But the more people turn off because its poo, the less likely we are to be able to watch it.
Thats why bigger games often have better quality - more people watching!

Reading 3 Sheff Utd 1 yesterday

by robtherich8 » 21 Jan 2007 17:06

Tried to reply earlier but account hadn't been activated yet.

Just to say I saw the game on TVAnts using the channel info described on

http://www.myp2p.eu/Saturday.htm

and yes it was jerky and stop-start during the first half but by the second half it was smooth and worked a treat.

I too got a computer virus the first time I used TVAnts but gave it another go yesterday and I think you're OK as long as you deny incoming streams in your firewall (I use Kerio which is free).

How did you get rid of it? I think I still have it!

I think I used AVG antivirus software which is what spotted the virus in the first place:

http://free.grisoft.com/freeweb.php/doc/2/lng/us/tpl/v5

But then to be sure - as I am paranoid and I didn't want to lose some valuable data on my hard drive - I wiped the system partition with fdisk and restored an earlier Ghost image I had of the system. I don't know your technical level but if that's all gibberish to you, you could back up any important data to CD/DVD and then reinstall Windows if you want to be sure. Hope that helps.

This is a good program for Antivirus,.
You may also have picked up Malware which AVG wont pick up .

2 x programs which help clean this Malware are Spybot and Adaware - bot which can be downloaded for free via links in this site fo example.

The information provided by these DAL guys is top notch and helped me clean all the PC's we have had over the past 3 years

Good luck ..

I have exactly the same set up as you i.e AVG, Spybot and Ad-Aware - I run them all once a week and (touch wood) have never had a virus since using them all. Unlike when I had Norton and got 2 of the little oxf*rd!
