Mathematically safe and other matters

by Arch » 14 Apr 2007 17:31

Always worth a celebratory brew. With Wigan and the Blades still to play each other, our worst possible finishing position is fifteenth.

We've moved into the top half defensively. Now ninth in goals against and that despite some teams having played fewer games. Significantly, we're better defensively than the much celebrated Bolton.

Fifth in goals scored, but likely to be overhauled by Tottenham and Everton.

Thank heavens we won't be relegated!

West Ham v Scunthorpe is a mouth-watering treat for next season.

We can still finish 4th

If we only played teams in the bottom half of the table we would be 4th

Arch Our worst possible finishing position is fifteenth.

And our best? I make it 4th... (using basic method of assuming no one else plays another match... )

Edit: just saw higher's post. Thanks...

I notice that there has been no fanfare from the club (i.e news article on the OS) about becoming mathematically safe.

Could this be because the FA have not yet ruled on the incident at the Sheffield United game and that points deduction is a possible penalty?

OMG, yes... Do you remember Wet Sham's first year in the Championship when they refused to use Rotherham's changing rooms and went back and used their hotel instead... LOL!!

Welcome to the real world guys!!!

They also might have a nice little trip to Yeovil, Oldham or Carlisle. Oh these ARE such happy times to be a Hammer!!

And with Charlton's defeat today, it's lookig increasingly likely that Parjudas will have been instrumental in taking 2 teams down from teh Prem in a single season.

Deserve all they get - b@stards.

Or just that it's a statistical milestone of little real significance ....

Weat Ham are far more likley to see a points deduction than we are to be punished for a very minor incident.

a wonderful muse.....but not next season tho'

Damn - forgot Pool went down last year from L1. Thought their promotion was FROM L1.

That'll teach me not to pay enough attention to the lower leagues!!

We should start a list of league fixtures we thought we would never see. Reading v Liverpool was an old favourite of mine.
