Steve Death's Goalkeeping Record

by Tony Le Mesmer » 16 Apr 2007 16:45

Could be under threat again from Petr Cech.

Currently nearly 9 league games since he last conceeded a league goal to Jermain Pennant at Anfield. (792 mins).

By my calculations he needs to go another 3 and a half games to get the record which is 1103 minutes. Next 4 fixtures are:

W Ham Away
Newcastle Away
Bolton Home
ARSENAL AWAY

So he's not three quarters of the way there yet.

(This should be in General Football, anyway, shouldn't it?

It is a Reading FC record, so it's a good place as any to have it here.

Chelsea already think they have the record. You seen that advert where they have fans of different clubs saying something like: West Ham: "We won the world cup" (no you didn't muppets). Chelsea fan says they hold the football league record for not conceding. They actually hold the Top flight record, not the league record.

I won't start worrying til Cech breaks the 1000 min mark, and even then we can always get Hunt to get revenge should he steal the record.

Nowhere near time to worry - and even if he does go 1100 minutes plus we would still hold the Football league record !

He would only set a record for the commercial breakaway Premier League

He shouldn;t be playing anyway - if he's fit he shouldn;t need the hat, if he's not he shouldn't be allowed to wear special kit

Thats is so true. People might say that he needs to wear the hat as he isn't comfortable with the other players around him. That says to me that he isn't in the right state of mine. He is mentally unfit. Therefore he could do anything, like think he was playing upfront. Oh how that would be funny.

I wonder what would happen if he went up for a corner ?
The helmet would allow him to head the ball with greater power - so he'd be gaining an advantage.
I also think players who wear gloves should be barred from taking throw ons....

But wasn't our record also an unbroken run whereas Chelsea have been leaking goals in other competitions

All three of our records are so damn good that it will take a really exceptional team to beat them.

Remember people were worried about Cardiff breaking one earlier this season?!

As for Mr Cech - IIRC Deathie didn't even wear gloves when he plied his trade (certainly footage of the Watney Cup game v ManU shows him gloveless).
