Ressies V The Arse: 2-2 FT

by higher » 24 Apr 2007 14:35

Just need a point from our last 2 games to finally lift this thing and book a play off v probably Man U .Good to see new signing Bikey and weekend super sub Shane long in the mix.Hopefully there will be some kind of live updates when the game gets under way.I`ll dig around for something.
Hopefully well do better than the anti climax v West Ham last week
Arse lost to West ham 2-0 last night for the record.
Team is:
1 Adam Federici
2 Daniel Spence
3 Julian Kelly
4 John Halls
5 Andre Bikey
6 Alan Bennett
7 James Henry
8 Greg Halford
9 Shane Long
10 Simon Church
11 Hal Robson-Kanu

Subs are not yet confirmed.

Bikey in midfield ?

Halls was good at centre back last week and with no Karacan a pairing of Halford and Bikey could be interesting...

Plus 4 others with a grand total of 2.5 league appearances between them !

Agreed we are abusing the system by throwing in senior pros like Long and Bikey though !!

We are certainly using more first team players than anyone else!

Personally, I see that only as a good thing - it means that when needed for first team duty our fringe players are a lot nearer to match fitness than if they weren't playing in the reserves.

How many did West Ham use ?
How many did Fulham use ?
Pompey played youngsters becasue their senior players were in Dubai.

Today's team has 2, neither of whom have been regular first team players.

As we discussed before we have a 'proper' reserve team and some other teams tip the balance more towards u18's.

Something which I am happy about, though of cause to give our reserves plaudits for winning a league where most other play U18's is not much of an achievement. I would be worried if those in our first team squad couldn't beat Academy players

You'd be disappointed if Chelsea or Man Utd's expensive sqaud couldn;t beat the rest comfortably. Doesn't mean winning the league isn;t worthy of something.

West Ham I remember little Jimmy Walker in goal and Christian Dailey, Calum Davenport and Paul Konchesky in defence - no-one has ever heard of them have they? Unfortunately Nigel Quashie didn't make the team :D

Not so sure about Fulham but certainly Claus Jensen and Zat Knight played, did Montella play?

Viktor Unnar Illugason will be on the bench. He scored 1 goal and setup the other in a 2-0 win for the U18's over Birmingham today.
