The way Riley came running over I thought he was going to book Doyle for leaving his foot in.
`was hilarious! Poor old Kingsley.
Anyway, what about a theme day for Watford?

Are we permitted to make an emergency loan signing for the specialist mascot position?

I understand the Evening Post may be prepared to send Leroy the Lion out on loan until the end of the season to gain experience.

I don't think an emergency signing is allowed, so you'll just have to step into the breach.

This is obviously one position overlooked in the transfer window, how could SSC have missed it!
Although I think Wally, judging by the lately inreased girth, could step into this position without too much problem.

Volvicanus I thought it was hilariously funny, but I must admit that I knew he was going to do it before he did.

I'm not sure about mascot rules but just before it happened I remember being a bit surprised to see Kingsley where he was. I don't think generally they are allowed to be that close to the touchlines. So strangely enough, I wasn't at all surprised to see MR trot over to tell him to back off a bit (not send him off as everyone seems to be insisting on).

If he wasn't sent off, why didn't he come back after half-time?

It was the second half he was sent off/told off you tit.

warrpp EP this morning reckon that kingsley was not repremanded for confusing riley with his shirt but for making "inflamatory gestures"

wonder what they could have been ?

Legend Kingsley was standing right on the touchline, gesticulating with both paws to the corner after a goal kick was (wrongly) indicated by OMR... that is dissent/inflammatory I guess?

For those that haven't seen the EP article yet :

KINGSLEY the lion could be in hot water with the FA following a touch-lion dispute with referee Mike Riley.

English football’s governing body confirmed it is investigating an allegation the Royals’ mascot made “inflammatory gesturesâ€

This one could run and run.

Kingsley had only himself to blame. Is he the first mascot in the history to embrace a referee in the middle of the field before kick-off in the full view of 24,000+ spectators? Isn't that asking for trouble?

To be fair to OMR, he looked more amused than rileyed after both incidents. Perhaps it's the first time anyone has given him a hug and he had to send Kingsley away because he (OMR) couldn't concentrate on the game while he (Kingsley) was around!

Another thought - if there's a ban, is it the lion suit, the man behind the mask or a combination of the two that will be electronically tagged and have DNA put in the TVP criminal records computer?

To be fair, after Riley spoke to him, he did make one or two gestures to the crowd. One could have been interpreted as a Nescafe shuffle.

I think OMR was lion about the original reason he asked Kingsley to move back - clearly the mane reason he did it was to try and dent Reading's pride

Good riddance to Kingsley, hope him and other mascots get a lifetime ban from football games, no place or time for them.

I loved the comment from a reader to the article:

The Times While this article may appear to be a little tongue in cheek there is a very serious aspect to it.

You have to remember that Newcastle United's Titus Bramble actually spent the entire first half marking Reading's Mascot.

It was only during the break that Glenn Roeder pointed out to Titus that Kingsley was in fact not on the Reading team that he was able to redirect his efforts.

Reports say Titus was particularly disappointed to learn this as he thought he was doing quite well against the King Of The Jungle. Video footage shows that the mascot managed to lose Bramble on only five occasions during the first 45 minutes.

If he gets an official warning from the FA then will there be a hearing? If so I wonder if Andrew will go as himself or be allowed to attend FA HQ dressed as Kingsley.

For full comedy effect he should go as Kingsley, and make sure there's a few press photographers there as well.
