Woodcote Royal I don't have time to read the whole thread but isn't it odd that Steve Sidwell doesn't feature in the top 100 whereas, Marcus "let's see if I can remove that guy's head in Row "A" Hahnemann does :?

Maybe Actim points aren't lost for inaccurate kicking.

And this is a Reading FC Message Board not a Manchester PLC messageboard.

The Actim Index, reveals that calls for Nicky Shorey's inclusion in the England squad by players and certain section of the media could well be justified as he is currently the highest ranked left-back in the Premiership.

Pretty amazing that - the only non-big four defender is our very own Nicky Shorey. Great company to be keeping!

Nicky Shorey (Reading) Attacking full-back Shorey has been a consistent performer for Steve Coppell's side in their inaugural season in the Barclays Premiership and his determination to get forward have led to him providing six assists. There have been calls for the former Leyton Orient left-back to be rewarded with an England call up.

I know this is a thread about Shorey but surely Hahnemann's inclusion deserves a mention as well?

Marcus Hahnemann (Reading) USA custodian has looked very much at home in the Barclays Premiership, playing an integral role in the Royals' debut season in the top flight. Hahnemann has kept 12 clean sheets and his ability to command his penalty area, along with his agility have enhanced his burgeoning reputation.

I'd have said that was one of his weaker areas but that's just me.

I agree with you - but he has had a good season as well. Shot-stopping is his forte and recently his overall goalkeeping has been a lot better...

According to Reading fans Marcus is fat, slow, poor on crosses, doesn't communicate, doesn't command his area and has weak distribution.

Seems like he's discovered the formula for stopping the ball going in the net though !

Personally I'd just say he has weak distribution. The rest of his game is just fine.

I'd amend even that slightly. I'd say his kicking is poor. When he throws the ball out, his distribution is excellent.

Sometimes he doesn't spot obvious runs for throwing out, and ends up doing shit kicks instead, not sure if that counts.

I love Marcus, but I think his penalty stopping hasn't been that great. Not that it's something that happens every week, but he just doesn't seem to stop very many.

I had my doubts over marcus as i like i GK to command their area but sadly i have realised their are much more important things involved in being a GK.

Lets go Football manager on Marcus:

Aerial ability: average
Command of area: average
Handling: average
Distrubution: average
Kicking: average
Reflexes: top class
Rushing out: top class
1 on 1's: top class

We sometimes forget that we are Reading and overall he is a good GK for reading.

At the start of the season i was one of the people that didnt rate Marcus but he proved to be an above average keeper, so lets be honest he has done Reading proud and we as a club are not really in the position to have a top class all round GK.

I believe Marcus deserves much more credit and im starting it here.

Marcus is the 2nd best GK i have seen play for Reading, the only others i have seen that come close are Shaka & Steve Francis.

I'd rate Marcus as equal to Shaka, significantly better than Francis and Steve Death is the only regular keeper who deserves to be mentioned in the same breath (we've had some good loanees !)

Marcus is the only one who has done it for us in the Prem though !

We are a top 10 Premiership team - Of course we are the position to have a top class keeper!

Earlier in the season Marcus was a huge concern for me but over the last 5 or 6 games he has played very well. I think this has something to do with the emergence of Fed and that has pushed him on.

I'd still like to see us bring in a keeper to challenge for the no:1 shirt in the summer - Although the added competition might just push Marcus on to even better performances which can only be a good thing for us.
